SURGE TANK
Any body have any basic info for fitting and product to an AU V8 1/4 to 1/2 a tank and she runs out of juice ..corners and take offs mainly. |

I rekin your on the money. Maybe instead of sharp left fuel vanishes now it'll be to the right. Just want to do it right once.

Sounds like the internal baffle's come adrift. You can access your fuel pump through the boot, run the tank empty and pull it out. There should be a white plastic baffle inside the tank. You can either clip it back on or have something fabricated that'll fit through the hole (about 4inch diameter from memory)

Do you mean a part of the tank has come apart or fuel pump housing

It clips onto the bottom of the tank, on the inside. It's like a cup that the fuel pump drops inside. When you accelerate or go round corners, it holds fuel up to the pump.
The fuel pump pick up is located about half an inch off the bottom of the tank and points straight down. If you're getting fuel slosh off a half full tank, a) You're going round corners far too hard ; and b) that would suggest the internal baffling isn't there...... Or the tank could be full of crap and the pump picks it up when you slosh it around.

The car has a lot more torque than orig, so wouldn't have been noticable before. I'll get stuck into it Cheers

Nothin to do so put a new radiator in one car
On a roll so I checked the fuel pump The pump on the right is a spare. Put that in and made sure fitted in snugly into the tray. (is the tray supposed to be loose) seems dodge So far going fine

The tray shouldn't be very loose. Since it just clips onto a plastic lump, it will wiggle a little, but not a lot (technical answer )

So far so good.
No loss of fuel with low tank of gas. Maybe the splash tray had become dislodged. Made sure it was positioned right into the fuel pump. There is a lump for the splash tray to fit into tank but dodge as. Very happy
