Default am i asking to much $$$

ive got the xr8 up for sale, id like about 18k

with the current mods of capa flash tuner with custom tunes done by KPM, k&n panel filter, 2x 2.5" hi flow cats 2x2.5 inch exhaust system with magnaflow hi flow mufflers. slotted front rotors, xtreme heavy duty clutch.

current best dyno result is 202.4rwkw, a stock figure on the same dyno it pulled 175rwkw. on a different dyno with bad fuel i could only run on my 95octane tune it pulled 189.3rwkw.

car has leather interior, premium sound, is 5 speed manual, narooma blue overall the car is in great condition just clocked over 110,xxxkm's.

how much would you think it is worth as is?

The mods and dynos figures aren't going to necessarily increase the value over what people are looking to pay. It's over the magic 100K mark, and you're competing in a buyers market so you might be lucky to get what you're after if you find an enthusiast, otherwise, you might have to consider chopping the price down to 15K and being prepared to haggle.

for 15k there is no point me selling it, that means this year alone ive lost 7grand on the car.

mods arent worth anything to the majority of people.
most common people will see 'mods' and think "car has been flogged to death".
take the loss now and sell it for 15k or hang on to it and get less than 10k when you realise it isnt worth what your asking.

That's why I'm keeping my AU and not upgrading, it's not worth the repeated depreciation pain

No more than 15K even with those mods. Don't bother upgrading and just keep it i say.

Nope the last of the Series II had the 220 as an option. To me for a manual with leather and premo sound in that colour 18k sounds like a good price.

Agreed, when I saw the FS thread for the car I thought 18k was reasonable.

And April 01 onwards had the 220 donk.

sadly i feel you are probably asking too much unless you really find a buyer that wants it. I couldn't sell my AUII GHIA with 347 stroker, AP racing brakes, custom leather, 18's etc etc etc for 18k when it had 100 000 on the clock and a 50 000 old engine!

As others have said, i am keeping mine to avoid the depreciation

Have you tried Carsales or similar? Forums are very difficult places to sell cars...

i know you aren't all redbook fans but
Prices based on km 90,000 - 150,000
Trade in price guide* $8,500 - $10,000
National average price - private sale* $11,400 - $14,400

After a quick rumage thru carsales and the likes it seems to be 13-16k is the money for one.. Be it that is the asking price I'd say the actual price theses things are moving on the market for is probably pretty close to the RedBook valuation

Ok, cool. Ford was shocking like that during the AU Series, couldn't keep up with running changes... like LSD in XR6s...

A manual 220 for 18k is a reasonable price, don't give it away mate for any less, good luck with the sale.

Well i dont know if you seen my ute,it did have a few more ks than your sedan, but utes generally sell for more then sedans, mine had full fibresports kit and all sort of stuff on it i could not get near 18 for it,also had a 2001 sedan once again a few more ks but in great nick and got 11,600 for it.
I think you would be lucky to get 15 for it.
There was also a low k supercharged one not long back for around the 17 mark it took him a while to get rid of it also.

Look at the market as a guide, not all the guesstimates that you are getting here.

http://search.carsguide.news.com.au/...&vehicleType=3
http://search.carsguide.news.com.au/...&vehicleType=1

The cheapest is 18k and the most expensive 24k. They are dealer prices but they are all also Autos so you can ask more since yours is manual (they are more expensive) No one can argue with market figures.

isnt the 220 option only a few bolt on bits?
een if it isnt,i doubt you will get that much when the same car with lower ks fitted with a supercharger cant get that, sorry for being so blunt but for some reason the au's dont hold value at all these days.
Lower the price and move on thats what i did :P

The AU with the supercharger wasn't legal and would have really struggled to get a RWC. That's why it struggled to sell. Also a blown XR8 doesn't appeal to the general population as much as a N/A XR8, remeber it is not only enthusiasts like us who buy cars.

The 220 wasn't just some bolt on bits either, higher compression and different cam are a couple of differences.

Could have easily removed it and sold it for a couple grand and had a very low k one for 15.

I know that, you know that but some people just either don't think like that or aren't mechanically minded enough to do it themselves. Something that puts it in the "too hard basket" and pushes them towards something else. I honestly have not seen any good examples of an AUII XR8 220 in an auto let alone a manual for less than 17k. Hell mine was 17k 12 months ago and look at what happened to me, no wonder they wanted to off load it.

At the end of the day, he can put 18K on it and see how it goes, he might get might get what he asks for if the right buyer comes along.

yeh,I went through the AU XR8 220 market and was very hard to find a good car with all the right option box's ticked(missed out on a venom rebel manual but anyway), so I say list it as this price and just be prepared for some offers bellow it up to you if you take them ,If I could've at the time when we bought our 5.4ltr ba ghia found an AU xr8 220 for the same money we payed for the ghia ($20K) I would have snapped it up,( still wish I looked abit harder, and I would've traveled interstate to get it.
