Goggle earth is made up of a series of large photos.... those areas which dont line up is where the photos are joined.

You can waste large lumps of lifetime searching around on Google Earth...not that "waste" is actually an accurate term...it's fascinating and educational.

i don't think google earth is updated regularly i remember checking out places that i used to live and found my car parked out the front of one of the places i hadn't lived in for about a year

The google photos are very old. The car I got rid of in 2001 is still in the image. I keep checking back hoping they've updated it so I can get a good image of the 1:10 race track that takes up my whole backyard.

Very rarely update the photos. On street view there is a picture of my old man and his neighbour trying to break into my dads car about 3 years ago.

Yep, the one I saw was a plain unmarked sedan driving along slowly with the camera mounted on top. Pretty cruisy job if you ask me!

What they have is Much better aerial photography than google's, however is pretty much limited to the major citys. Can also select the date from every photo they have. Is worth a try, I'm 50km from Melbourne and my house is on their aerial loop.
