Just wanting to find out if anyone has been put into this position.
I bought an item from the USA, (some subs). So I clicked buy it now paid the money for the item and paid the $40 postage that it said. Now I have recieved a message saying that the amount of postage I paid is incorrect and they are asking for $200 more. Just wondering if they can do this. They are willing to give me a refund, but the reason I bough the item because I saved about $200. |

did the freight cost specify to include australia?
p.s. you can file a complaint with Ebay themselves if you arent successful negotiating with the seller i reckon.

Couple of things first....Did you pay by paypal? Did the ad state an amount for international postage? Did you pay on invoice or just through the Pay now for item?
If they are willing to give you a refund...just take it! Another item will come up soon enough and at least you will have your money back.

sounds like you paid the "local" postage
buried within the sales item terms it should have specified that this was the case, if not they may have a case against them but I highly doubt it take the refund and buy locally (australia)

Always ask for a quote when your buying stuff overseas and never click on the pay now button until the seller has added the actual freight costs and sent you an invoice.
If the price for freight was agreed to prior to buying (or his postage option said AUSTRALIA $40 etc) then you can lodge a complaint.

I will post the add up when I get home. Can not access Ebay on this work computer.
The add which I am looking on my phone says Shipping Service : Standard Int'l shipping Shipping Cost : US $39.95 To: Australia I did send the seller and email asking for his best price shipped to My address. I got a reply back saying that the best price is on the Ebay add and if you wish to buy click the buy it now and pay the cost. So that is what I did. Last edited by xisled; 04-02-2012 at 12:58 PM. |

Do you really want to fight them on it and risk the goods arriving damaged??
You win some...you lose some...It sounds like it is an item you really want, but is it worth the headache?

Take the refund and run. The last time I was in this situation I got my product and had to send it back soon after at much more than their postage... then the months of emails saying where is my replacement / refund... Something like a sub, I will pay extra for locally. I want to be able to hop in the car and return it if there is a problem then and there. The seller has to then abide by local consumer protection laws. |

in that case, report him to ebay as well.... as he cant add anything after an agreed cost for handling and freight.

the Audiosavings seller i posted generally works out alot cheaper when you buy a package deal with subs/amps/wiring kit etc, rather than a single sub plus post and like i mentioned you will get it here faster than aus post could even think about starting the van up lol |

I have been buying 1/18 scale metal diecast cars from several sources in USA.
Postage has now gone to average $US45. Bah no more can get cheaper from Germany.

$45 postage seems pretty cheap mate. I had a 450gm helicopter and 2kg transmitter posted and it was $40. An RC car for example is $75 and that is from a huge hobby store who probably give discount.
