Default Dirt road where i didn't expect one.

This is going to be a bit of a dumb/boring thread and i wont be supprised if no one responds to it, but i was stunned to see a dirt road (ross st) in Moorabbin (vic) in my travels today.

Just wondering if anyone knows why it has not been paved?

And if they also want to add in random dirt roads in the middle of suburbia that they know of.

(studying hours on end does this to me)

Plenty of reasons why roads remain dirt.... usually no money is the biggest.

Back of Riverstone NSW ... half of it still isn't developed.
It's more outer suburbia ... nearing on rural I guess. Still ... not far from Rouse Hill and Schofields ... and those area are boom like anything at the moment.

Geez, i didn't expect any serious responses to this!

For the non locals, it is slightly industrial, but is by no means a new suburb.

I think we should start a campaign to raise awareness for Ross St, 'the Street that the council forgot'.

Poor Ross St.

Looks similar to tracks I've and parents have driven our AUII wagon on!

I'm more comfortable driving on dirt and enjoy it more than tarmac! Learning to drive on a farm does that.

On the flip side of this, a lot of councils send home owners big bills when they throw bitumen down on old dirt roads!

Happens quite a lot..

haha i could have used your driver training and mudflaps when i hit some grass the other day and lost traction a few times resulting in nice green grass stains down my car.

and its true, nothing compares to a good paddock bash.

i was at a farm riding in the back of a mazda ute, the driver who grew up on the farm got it bogged. I jumped in the drivers seat, locked the hubs, in low and eased it out. then continued to enjoy some private property fun

Unless things have changed in the last week, there is a possibility that the Newell Highway between Goondiwindi and Narrabri could have sections of unpaved gravel in the near future

Your not wrong mate.
Probably the worst road in Sydney.
Glad I don't use that road any more.

I live in Croydon VIC and there is two streets that are dirt in the 'burbs. They surround Wyreena Community Centre and have been left dirt to suit the traditional heritage of the building. Its very odd cause the rest of the roads are paved.

Cheers

There's an unsealed road in the middle of Montmorency that a friend of mine lives down. Its off one of the main roads through there. Like the OP I've always wondered why it is still dirt also.
