There are no options available on a Titanium its all standard. In the corner of the rear view mirrors you should be able to see where the orange LED lights up and they come on every time you start the engine for a few seconds. You should be able to see the lane departure switch on the left stalk just in from the voice control button and next to the mirror control on the door there's a button you can push to fold the mirrors in at anytime (they normally fold when I push the lock button on the door). If you haven't got any of that stuff something is seriously wrong.

all missing! even the centre display in the cluster is missing the lines. but every thing else is titanium, all outside, sunroof, hid, auto leveling lights auto dip, leather and alcantara, starter and no keys. very strange and will be interesting to see the warrenty claim and cost!

Dumb question mate but does it have daylight running lights and no antenna they are the 2 easiest ways to spot the difference between a MB and MC Titanium. Post a pic of the inside and out if you can, we all love pics anyway.

Well that's just downright bizarre then. Just had another thought someone posted this web site ages ago.http://www.etis.ford.com/vehicleRegS...3E280.fcvas512
Slap your dads VIN number in and it should tell you how the car was speced from new. If it helps mine is a Jan 2011 build and I can post its specs for you to compare.

Thats really weird but look on the bright side you have a 1 off car there. I doubt they could bring it back up to Australian Titanium level it wouldn't be finacially viable for them how many kms has it done? Was it sold as a Titanium without anything being said of missing standard features?
Below is the differences between our cars:

Yours / Mine

Less Safety Packs
Safety Pack 2

Less Heated Windscreen

Dual P/Heat/Signal/Pud Lamp Mirror Dual Power/Htd/Fold/Pud Lamp Mirror

With Heated Washer Jet
Less Blind Spot Information System Lane Departure Warning System
BIS W/Radar-BLIS/CAN LED

Change the number plates and from the outside that could be my car but inside its all wrong. As I said above thats a huge fix to bring up to standard spec its going to be a hell of a conversation when he drives back into the dealer he might even use the same language as Carrie Bickmore on The Panel last night.

Did he get the car from a dealer (Ford) or private?
Maybe it was one of the first into the country as a press / media car.
54,000kms on the clock would indicate that might have been the case...

As for the missing goodies, that could be part of the reason, sometimes manufacturers bring in rushed versions for car shows / media release etc.

Do keep us up to date though...

was from a ford dealer in sydney. wont name names coz that wont help. it was built on the 27/12/10. from what dad told me today the dealer wiped there hands of it. he has since spoken to ford and is waiting for a call back but as that was at 10am im thinking that they are not sure what to do. he wants it all back to spec but i can see it being bloody dear to do it. especially if the loom is missing bits. other than that it is a cracking car and drives perfectly

Maybe there was too much festive cheer in the air when the car was being built, thus they missed a few bits out...

I can't see this ending well for you. It was sold on the lot as a used car??

It would be a different matter if you had ordered a new Titanium, then there are expectations of the product as detailed by spec sheets etc.

For what it's worth, the bind spot indicator isn't the be all and end all.

Good luck

i think it will end well, the fact it was a x ford car and bought from a ford dealer and still has 18 months warranty.
the blind spot indicator may not be a big problem but finding out that it missing airbags is a problem that ford will have to fix. if it was involved in a crash where someone was injured due to the airbags it would not look good for ford, from what dad was telling me on the phone i think ford dont quite belive what they are hearing.

Just put your VIN in my catalogue and sure as ****, you have no options. I can't see anything on your accessories list that makes your car a titanium other than the badging on the rear.. Strange indeed.

Like I mentioned above, it is most likely a press / media car.
And as per the VIN decoding, if that is what the car has from the factory, that is what it has got. Does it meet the definition of a Titanium Aussie Speced model - No.
Should it be as per Aussie Spec, well most likely if that is the car you where purchasing.
I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but did your dad get the car at a "Good" price? If so, that is probably reflective of the lower grade equipment levels. If you kick up a stick, you might get some of the options put into your car, however I do not like your chances...

What is this about the Airbags though?
All Mondeos have 7 Airbags, Front (x2), Side (x2), Curtain (full length x2) and Knee.

its missing a safety pack, i assume airbags.

and he paid market value 30000, same deal he could get for the only others that were in the state, should have bought one of the others. the way we see it is if it were a g6e with cloth instead of leather warranty would put in leather. but i guess we will see how it goes

It could be a few things like the collision avoidance, drowsy driver alert, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control. The early test car idea could be true I know mine was on the second boat load since I was suppose to have 1 off the first boat but that got sold to someone else probably into retail since mines a lease.
Being safety related items that woudld probably be his best form of attack by saying he saw all those features on the offical website so thats what swayed him into buying 1 and as you said what liability do Ford have if the worst happens. I would be going past the dealer though and talking to Ford Australia.

First of all your father should ascertain what is actually missing from the normal Aus spec Titanium, has it got all the airbags or is one or more missing?

Being a second hand car I doubt Ford Australia would be interested, the dealer should be if they advertised or sold it as a current MC Titanium spec model and it is not. I would think that would be a misrepresentation if they did, and should have clearly stated the differences during the sale.

In addition I'm afraid also that the vehicle configuration should have been checked during the inspection before sale. It could even have been a private import, but we know its not from the database that says 'Aus'.

so.... its been a big drama, after calling ford for 2 weeks they finally told my old man that its not their problem as it was an option pack, no matter how much dad argued they would not listen and told him to go to the dealer,

so he call the dealer principal and he fobed dad off,

so now my gf told him to contact fair trading who are now talking to ford and the dealer, they agree that it is wrong and expect that they will have a positive outcome as the dealer advitised it with these things.

also to top off his whole experience with this dealer they sent out a feedback form on the experience of the sale, needless to say it wont be good.
to add insult to it the letter they sent out states that the 'tyre for life' program is not for cars with 18inch wheels even though it was a selling pitch by the dealer along with the stupid 6month 10k service plan.

not really a good ford move for a bloke who has had all ford cars for his whole life,

escort, xd, xf, el, au, ba, fg and mondeo

the story deepens
