Default 2014 Jaguar XFR-S

Quote:
Jaaaaaag can't seem to do anything wrong lately. The F-Type looks sensational. The XKR-S makes a sound that causes tsunamis.

And now there is the XFR-S, which is the hottest sedan — in looks and power — to come out of Coventry... ever. Seriously.

With the ever expanding horsepower wars among premium automakers, the 510 horsepower XFR went from top dog to bottom of the heap in record time. More powwweerrrr was needed. That's where the XFR-S comes into frame. Sharing an engine with the XKR-S, the XFR-S has 550 horses and 502 pound feet of torque. That's enough to get the latest cat to 60 in 4.4 seconds and up to a top speed of 186 MPH.

On the design front, the XFR-S has skipped anger management and looks downright sinister. Huge vents and narrow lights make it look angry. The signature French Blue color also looks magnificent. Our only point of contention would have to be the gigantic Subaru STI-esque wing on the back. It kind of feels out of place.

But forget that, the XFR-S will go on sale in summer 2013 at a starting price of $99,000. And you better line up now: Just 100 of these tire smoking monsters will be coming to the USA for the 2014 model year.
http://jalopnik.com/5963806/the-2014...more-powwerrrr

I like it, except for the rear wing, makes it look tacky.
Other than that

I just want one, that's all there is too it.
Not a fan of the rear wing either so might have to "make do" with a regular XFR when its time to change horses.

I saw this on wikicars today: http://www.wikicars.net.au/news.php#...rticle&pno=167

0-100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and top speed of 300 km/h sounds pretty impressive, though I'm not sure if we'll ever see this in Aus.

Well you just need to buy the one above then! Does the same and if this Jag came here I could promise it would be 3 times the price as well

I think compared to the M5 and the E63 AMG which is the class Jag's aiming at I'd still choose either the Beemer or the Merc's over the Jag, Beemer would have better steering dynamics, E63 would SOUND sooo much better - and definitely needs to lose the rear wing..

Love the XFR and this new S. They're fantastic looking and going cars!

The front styling is perfect, and those DRLs in the lamps look so evil on the road on a rainy day! It's like some evil devil is gunna pounce on you!

I dislike the rear end though unfortunately! Something about the shape just doesn't work for me unfortunately... same story with their new wagon. I'm sorry to say but this is the first car in which I think the sedan looks better than the wagon!

This is what I saw but in metallic red which showed the curves and creases in the bodywork better, making it look even better.

geeee that looks like a falcon clone for sure. They even have to go back to 1985 and steal the good old XF falcon model together with the S. XFS pac. From the links given some photos show very bad over steer in the rear end into that corner lol. The colour looks the same as Ford nitro blue for sure. One thing really missing is the Blue oval badge.

Gee's that looks smokin'!! Only problem is if it comes here it'll be around the $200K+ mark.

I can see similarities with FG in the rear door window lines and the C-pillar. Door mirrors look pretty similar too. (I've also noticed the Volvo C30 T5 mirrors are just like those on FG too. Carryover from the Ford ownership days perhaps?)

Pretty sure the fg mirrors are just euro parts bin specials, certainly falcon isn't the only car using them.

Yep, and why? Because Australia...

I did a cross check of the XFR prices about a year ago, it's heartbreaking, might as well share it;

This got me thinking, so I jumped on the various Jag websites, since they publish "list" prices, & the disparity is infuriating
(note that under Australian law, it's no longer possible to publish list prices for cars, so we'll go with the Top Gear price)

Jaguar XFR 5.0L S/C, without any options, exchange rates according xe.com todays middle rates
Prices included sales taxes / VAT in the specific country (except USA).

United States $82,000.00 which is £51,540.00+Tax (doesn't include sales tax, which is state dependant)
United Kingdom £65,350.00 on-the-road, includes 20% VAT
Germany €92,700.00 which is £80,576.00, includes 19% VAT
France €95,700.00 which is £83,244.00, includes 19.6% VAT
Switzerland CHF 129,800.00 which is £92,117.00, includes 8% VAT

Last but not least, Australia $207,904.00 which is £135,233.00, includes 10% VAT, 5% Customs Duty and....
The LCT (Luxury Car Tax) of $45,234.00 (£29,500) un-be-fooken-lievable...

Do the maths yourself & you'll also note that JLR is price-gouging in every other country except the USA, nice....

Details of the taxes in Oz HERE and HERE for clarity. Other prices from Jaguar. VAT rates from, well you know...
I'm a Jaguar fanatic, I currently own two Jags & my XJR is the best car i've ever had, love it more than the TE50 and the XD ESP, both cars I miss terribly...

But the pricing in Australia makes my blood boil...and as you can see from the above example, it's not just Govco with their hand in the Aussie car buyers pocket...grrrr....

$45K just in tax. You could buy an XR6 with a luxo pack for that money.

Thanks for that. I understand Jaguar just lopped approx $A20K off the price for a regular XFR which is better looking than the XFR-S and all the performance any sane person really needs for normal roads.

Its about $180K retail now, put the acid on them and you should be able to get an undriven demo for about $150-160K.

Worth nearly double an R Spec ????, I guess that's like asking if a fine European suit is worth double what a locally made one is.

As for me, I'd love to offer these guys $120K Kiwi and see what happens but I know War Office approval wouldn't be forthcoming. Just look at it:

Yes Jaguar Australia recently announced some price adjustments http://smh.drive.com.au/sydney-motor...018-27tl4.html

Which is a step in the right direction, and I hope there will be further adjustments every 18 months or so for the next 5 years, eventually bringing prices down to a reasonable level.

Just walking in & slashing prices in half on the spot is a sure-fire way of upsetting your existing customers, imagine spending $300K on a car, and then a month later they are on sale for $180K, you would never buy another one. They need to protect thier existing customers.

And to be fair to all the Euro brands, there is a historical reason why they are all overpriced in Australia. The global exchange rates are a long way from the lowest of lows for each currency. Once a price level is established, it typically only goes up. And that's the case with Euro cars.

It takes big balls to drop prices. I don't remember the exact figure & CBF working it out now, but it's something like for every 10% you drop the price, you need to sell double the quantity to maintain the same profit if your cost base is the same. Obviously the cost base is lower because of the exchange rates, but still, think about a sales manager faced with the task of increasing sales (in $$$), if you drop the price you need to sell more, a lot more.

Quite a balancing act...but i think (i don't know, I just think) from JLR's corporate point of view, i.e. a manufacturer, that selling more units is a higher priority than maintaining big profits in small markets. However the local guys will be more interested in maintaining thier profitability. Corporate wants to grow in quantity, local guys want to grow in $$$

Just hearsay, but I work for a global manufacturer, and that's the situation we face with our daughter companies.

Rodge, go for it, just remember that it's better to beg forgiveness, than ask for permission

My preference is mainly from the much better engine braking you get from an automated manual not because of change speed, smoothness or whatever. I am a manual driver at heart
