Hey all,
I've been chasing up squeaks from under the bonnet (or rather my mechanic has) and after replacing three pulleys and a squeaky alternator I thought it was all sorted. However there is a new squeak, and I discovered today that it stops when I put even the slightest amount of pressure on the clutch pedal. Any ideas what it could be?? |

Thrust bearing maybe. Ive had a couple with a squeeky cam angle sensor, that sounds like a squeeky pulley.

Yeah, thrust bearing. Mine does that too, minimal weight on pedal and it goes away. i wouldn't call it a squeak though, more of a high pitched cricket noise.

I'm glad that you are synchronised, but what's that got to do with anything?

I forgot to mention that the clutch was replaced just over a year ago, so it's strange that the thrust bearing would be noisy. The question is would applying pressure to the clutch pedal stop the cam synchroniser squeaking??

No mate the clutch has got nothing to do with it, your cam sync is where the disy usually is on a carby windsor. Its under your coils

Its definitely the thrust bearing then as applying the clutch stops the noise. Sucks as the clutch was done recently and this would mean the box has to come out again!!

Considering the thrust bearing is at the rear of the engine bay and the cam synchroniser is at the front, perhaps see which end the noise is coming from first before diagnosing?
That's what I'd be doing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I've had a clutch related squeak for a long time (goes away with minimal clutch pressure) but it seems that a new occasional squeak has appeared from the engine. I'm guessing cam synchroniser for that too since the pulleys aren't that old. Just gone past 125k km.
