A terrible story. What is going wrong?? Why so many occurrences?? Stories like this will be more common the way things are going:
http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/-...-crash-victim/ I knew the victim briefly around 25 years ago, was a great bloke.

And the advertisements for Great Wall utes try to say buyers of "other utes" don't have much between the ears...
Surprised the Great Wall ute was able to ram the other vehicle 3 times without folding like a piece of origami. |

My deepest sympathy to those related.
This is something that I always think of when I drive down a highway. You plan and concerntrate on all possible scenarios that could happen. But you have NO control over other drivers around you or at worst coming the opposite way towards you at the last second! As for road rage, plan to leave earlier on your drive, be patient, apologetic for your own mistakes and be a bit forgiving for others making mistakes. We are not all perfect. (If you reply to this post stating you are perfect, you are just being silly) |

This was an interesting line in the newspaper article:
They were also trying to track down the movements of the Great Wall driver, who suffered broken legs, in the hours leading up the incident. How on earth was he driving the Great Wall at the time of the accident either if that was the case.

Condolences to the relatives of the victim, it's always someone just minding their own business and doing the right thing that suffers in these situations. Sounds to me like the Great Wall driver was tripping on something. I hate driving at this time of the year.

My condolences to the Noormets family. What a horrible way to go when all he was doing was heading to pick up his youngest daughter. I'm glad he wasn't alone at the end.
I hope everyone takes the time to reflect on how precious life is. And please drive safe this holiday season. |

The main message to heed here is to just relax. If you're going to be 5 or 10 mins late it isn't the end of the world. If another driver does something to anger you just take a deep breath and relax. What effect in the grand scheme of things will it have on you?
If you feel anger to an unhealthy point then get off the road. Blow off steam another way. If everyone can just ease off a bit behind the wheel and cool off a bit then we'll all make it home to see our families. I'm sure the Noormets family situation would be very different if this message was heeded. As for the driver responsible for this lunacy we can only hope the judiciary deals with him very harshly. (Please - no lynch mob comments etc)

I get cut off quite often on the bike, I just learn to live with it. I don't get mad or angry. I just think another one not looking, and thank god I read the situation right.

The behaviour is widespread in Australia and the US, NZ. A disintegrating societal thing.

brings everything into perspective huh
while im sure there are all diff things that upset us about other drivers on the road doing those little things diff to what you do, chasing someone down and ramming them is just crazy, obviously something triggered that....you dont go chasing someone down and trying to ram them ffs....ive been pretty angry before at someone and never even contemplated doing something like that sad and like someone said better to take a couple of deep breaths (mutter under your breath 'what is wrong with some people') and get on with driving and paying attention

Terrible tradedgy for the innocent driver involved.
I swear some people are looking for trouble on the roads. Some guy highbeamed me today for changing lanes in front of him when my lane was ending. Don't know why he was upset. What did he get out of it. |

I witnessed road rage and sheesh, I sat in my car scared not knowing what would happen next. I seriously thought it they'd both get out of their cars or worse.
What happened is a woman in a sedan made a left (I'm in the US) but she ended up sticking out into the intersection. The light was yellow too so she shouldn't have done that. But a guy in a black lifted F150 who was behind her decided he didn't want to wait for the light to be green again and he made the left too. So he wouldn't butt into the intersection even more, he lined his front end next to hers. When that lane started to move, rather than let the woman go first, he tried to cut in front of her. Well he chose the wrong woman to mess with because she wouldn't let him get in front and she closed the gap. They did this several times and no one let the other go. He started cussing, saluting her and going off on her. She did the same and would not stand down. I was at the red light waiting to go forward but couldn't because they refused to move. I didn't want to get any closer either, and since everyone else behind me saw too, I waited. Patiently. Feeling scared someone might bust out a weapon or something. Talk about needing anger management, those 2 have issues! Anyways, just wanted to share a road rage incident I witnessed. |

Saw some guy get out of the passenger seat at traffic lights walked up to a car in the other lane and started punching the driver in the head through the window. He then got back in his car and they made a quick illegal Uturn. Going out of his way to beat a driver up. ******* loser.

When I was working in Nth America, doing long drives through "middle America", I was told in no uncertain terms by my colleagues and family, "you aren't in Australia, you annoy the wrong person, they'll pull out their hunting riffle from the back of their pickup and start taking pot shots at you".
Had nice relaxed drives after that conversation, had no interest in getting into confrontations with any Billy Bobs after that. Condolances goes out to family and friends of the innocent victim. Suprising this has happened in the country, I found country drivers more tollerant of other drivers than most.

We have to shut up and appreciate it because it's good for the local economy but it's sure nice when they're gone lol! All this is a culture shock after Europe too - and Australia's supposed to be an easygoing society. |

Its possible that some people have brain problems affecting their pre-frontal cortex.
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases...0330161843.htm Some people have poor self control basically. |

ah hell, i'd had dealings with him too, i didnt know it was related to road rage, we certainly didnt get that bit of info here.
i dont give a toss for poor self control, no excuse whatsoever - that person got their licence; they showed control to get it.
