Ford is aiming to transition consumers from Territory to the new Kuga, but what do we do?
Do we start to purchase Kuga now, on the basis that Territory wont be around long term? Or do we continue to support Territory, which also supports Falcon? For us personally, Kuga is too small, so it's a no go... Nevertheless, i say continue to support Territory if you want to continue Falcon into the future.... |

They want to sell both. I won't be buying a Kuga. Too small and under powered for me.

Totally different cars. Totally different market . Anyone in the market for a Territory would not look at a Kuga in a fit. Would be like a Prado buyer deciding on a Rav 4.

Kuga is all about filling the small SUV product gap..
Shock / horror, Ford may even get soem impressive sales thanks to Kuga, depends on quantities ordered from Europe.. |

Seems like a valid discussion to me.
Carry on.

I was trying to convince my missus to get a Kuga instead of a cruze, there's no way they are the same market for territory buyers.
But new cruze pricing will most probably mean she's gets the Holden. |

I agree that these are different cars, for different markets, however, look at Holden's Captiva sales (and simular small SUV's). I don't know the actual figures, but how many Territory sales were lost to Captiva, or Mazda's CX5/7? I'm sure someone at Ford marketing knows the answer....
And if we look at who is driving a Territory, yes some have three or more kids, but how many more have one 1 or 2 kids? Perfect for Kuga. My guess is we will see alot less marketing on Territory and a lot on Kuga to gradiuly 'convince' people that the Kuga is a real Ford alternative to the Territory. Lets see what happens... |

We've had enough doom and gloom crap this week thanks. Ford are more committed to the Territory than they are to the Falcon. I smell a troll.

What?
A bloke comes on here with some un-substantiated rubbish, right when the perception of Ford's local models is at a low? More ammo for any journo's lurking to spruce up a article from?

When I say valid discussion, I didn't mean that I agree that Kuga will be replacing Territory etc, rather that I think the OP is not a troll and wants genuine opinions if it were to happen. I guess my issue is with members calling other members trolls without actually contributing to the discussion is a positive manner. I'm sorry if anyone misunderstood my inital post.

The Explorer is to be exported to more than 90 countries. What's the bet that it includes RHD countries like Aus, NZ, and Sth Africa?
http://media.ford.com/article_displa...ticle_id=33011 I can't imagine the Territory and Explorer co-existing. |

The question posed was loaded and made as if it is a fait accompli. It's not.

Ford will only have 2 SUV (Kuga & Territory), Toyota has 3 that sell very very well, Mazda have 2, Hyundai have 2, Holden have 2, so why can't Ford have 2? I don’t think of it as one is here to replace the other, there is just 2 very differently sized SUV Ford offer.
Also, Advertising for Kuga will clearly out way Territory for the next 12 months or so, because Kuga is an all new model & Territory is coming to the end of its current model. But when the 2014 Territory update comes out, the opposite will happen. |

And you are telling me this because....? It's not a loaded question because answering "no" does not imply a partial agreement.
Actually Alan Mullally reiterated the claim at the unveiling of the Ford Atlas concept. So the 90 countries thing still stands. |

I have driven the Explorer LTD in America and its way better equipped than the Tezza..The base model is similar to the Titanium...their is also a sports model..I cann't see it coming here ,if it does, at a sensible price.....

New Kuga- L-4524 W-2077 inc mirrors H-1685
Territory- L-4833 W-1898 ex mirrors H-1716 For fun: Captiva7- L-4673 W-1849 H-1727 You are best comparing a new Kuga with a Captiva floppy ears, are you in the market?

I think the different sized Toyota SUV's is the most pertinent analogy made here BUT when you look at the pricing, technology and equipment level's as well as the fuel efficiency of the new Kuga 2, I think its reasonable to assume the new Kuga will poach more than a few Territory sales especially where the two models are in their respective life cycles.
Kuga 2, especially with the optional technology pack, is a vastly improved, significantly more fuel efficient and somewhat bigger SUV than the first version that's for sure and provided they can secure adequate supply I reckon it'll sell like hot cakes. There's huge growth in this medium SUV segment because the reality is that's all the vehicle most families need and is much cheaper than the Terry which is a massive factor for many families. |

At the end of the day, you buy a vehicle that most suits your needs and gives you best value for your dollar.
I try to support local manufacturing as much as the next guy but I won't part with my hard earned just to support a declining vehicle model. If the Kuga suits your needs and offers better value over the territory, well it's pretty clear to me what needs to be done. If the territory is better for you then buy it....

Doesn't the Ecosport fall under the SUV category under the Compact SUV?
The funny thing about comparing the Exlporer with the Territory, it the Explorer is massive compared to the Territory. A better comparison would be the Edge. If it grow slightly, it could fit in 7 seats and be a direct replacement for the Tezza. So where does the T6 SUV fit in the scheme of things when it arrives?
