Hey everyone
I have searched the forum and couldn’t come up with anything similar. If there has been let me know (I am sure that you will). If I posted it in the wrong place then please move. If it’s a stupid idea, well, I least I tried to break it up. To break up all this doom and gloom about the Falcon in the pub I thought I would post up this question. It’s a bit of a game/wotif but I thought that it would be a bit of fun. I am sure that some people have already thought or discussed this but I thought we could share it amongst us. You have $80,000 (I don’t how you got the money – maybe you inherited it) to spend on a FPV or something similar. However if you had the choice (and room to put them) and the missus says that you can buy five (5) classic/collectable cars instead what would you buy? Keep in mind the $80,000 that you have to spend. Now if you would just buy the FPV then post which FPV (I suppose it can be something else equivalent). If you would buy five different cars post which ones. If there is a reason for selecting a car (you next door neighbour had one etc) then let us know. PLEASE, PLEASE no arguments over selections. This is a bit of fun and not a contest – if you do not want to be honest with yourself well that’s fine. No arguments over whether you could actually buy car(s) for the budget. If you want to buy a XR GT for $4000 that is a rusted out wreck well go for it. Keep in mind there is no extra money to restore them as you would now have 5 regos and car insurances a year! No arguments over not selecting Ford products. If the arguments start I am sure that the thread will be quickly closed. The only condition in the selection of the car(s) is that it must be pre-2000. Lastly, yes, the car(s) can be what you already own. |

If you select the option of five 'classic/collectable' cars then it must be pre-2000. If its a FPV or similar well then it would hopefully be a new one.
Simply what I am asking is would you select one modern car or go five older type cars. Just another thing. Don't be boring and say that you would buy a SUV so that you could lug the kids around. The idea is that you have come into some extra cash and are buying a toy or toys with it. |

Cool , no rooting around , 80 k in hand , i`m off to bayfords to pick up my GT , as much as i like the oldies, if i was being practical and smart i would probably get a higher vehicle (like a terri)to alleviate some pain when entering and disembarking the vehicle with my dodgey arthritised bones, but i could and would endure some pain to have my GT .

I should make it clearer. You can buy another brand but at least try and make it interesting. For example, don't just say HSV to **** forum members off. I'm trying to get our minds off Falcon dilemmas for this thread. |

Seeing I started the thread I better put my five 'oldies' up. I'm not going all Ford. However I am also not spending all of 'my' $80,000.
EL XR6 5spd manual To put it simply, these are a great car. XE ESP (6cyl) I used to own one. Sold it to buy my first house. The only car the I ever regret selling. TS50 I have always loved these cars - even when selling them new. VL Turbo sedan Yes I know. I have a little bogan in me. 1977 Chrysler Galant sedan My Mum owned one for a few years. It was promised to me when I got my learners permit. The motor blew up two weeks before I got my permit. She sold it for $50 and bought a Honda Skamp (don't ask) for me to have instead. Needless to say I never took her up on the offer - went and got a job and bought myself a LC Torana. |

Put it in the bank, wait 2 years then get what will probably be the Last Falcon GT (hopefully with intercooler), or 1 year old HSV Commodore GTS. Which ever I'm more comfortable with.

If it was a newish car, import a Shelby 2010 -2013 GT500. FG design just doesn't do it for me, so spending the coin on a design I like but not love would be a regret.
1. EL GT. Underrated, but beautiful! 2. 2000 Mustang GT Cobra. For a reason I cant explain, I've always liked them, especially in Red (think Gran Turismo). 3. XE Fairmont 6cyl manual in Red. Just like my first car... always wish I was able to keep it! 4. XY GT replica. No way to afford a real one, and a replica would still be awesome. 5. Radio controlled nitro 96 Williams F1 car... I know, it's not a REAL car, but it is a car and I always wanted one!

I would go traveling around Australia, trying to find one of these phase 3, that are alway coming up in barn find stories. And pay 20k for one that's being sitting in a shed with a cover over it, with bugger all miles on it. LOL

I'd build a pro touring XB Coupe with a 2013 GT500 power train.
Don't think I'd have a lot of change. |
