Default Bought a Mondeo

Hi fellow AUvians!

I bought a 2009 Mondeo Zetec Diesel on the weekend.

Mightlily impressed would be an understatement.

I now need to say goodbye to one of my beloved AUs. I'll keep you posted about that one.

I reckon I'll have the remianing one until that rego runs out (Dec), when I'll be looking around for another Mondeo, or maybe Focus. We'll see how that goes, but I'm going to have to hand over the Mondeo to the Mrs soon, which I'm quite reluctant to do! LOL!

I never thought I'd enjoy having a front wheel drive 4 cyl diesel, but I was very wrong. The gear the car is loaded with, is also very, very impressive. It handles great, feels so nice to drive and is very comfy.

Cheers,

GK

Hey George, long time no see.

Congrats on the Mondeo. It's inevitable that we eventually move on.

My AU will be gone when I get the energy to list the stuff in the shed.

Oh well, it was a great ride (both the AU and the AUForum)

A mondeo is a whole world ahead of an AU. Feels nice living in the 21st century, doesn't it.
That being said, for someone who was talking about a V8 for years, this is a step in the opposite direction...
Either way, one of the most important things in life is family and that's why I try to keep my family in 5-star safety rated cars, I'm glad your family has that lessened risk now too.
Enjoy!

Onya GK. I'm in a Ranger now, great truck very happy with it.

(But it ain't a V8 )

I am impressed by the Ford diesels, my first diesel ever and I was worried about feeling like I was driving a tractor but it's far from it.

Does the 'deo run EGR?

Indeed. A sad but true fact.

I still have the wagon and the SR, but unfortunately, the Mrs was rear ended in the SR today. I had promised the wagon to the neighbours, however I'll need it for a bit longer, whilst I sort what the insurance company is going to do with the sedan. It was a fair shunt, so I reckon they might pay me out. We'll see soon enough I guess.

Sure is a whole world ahead. Car is just so darn good.

Yes, I see that many might be surprised by my choice of car this time round! LOL!

I appreciate the 5 star rating for sure!

I really enjoy the way the 2.0 makes power. Really smooth and linear.

What's "EGR?"

I really appreciate the replies guys.

Cheers,

EGR = Exhaust Gas Recirculation. Quite common on newer diesels.

GK - sorry to hear about the SR and glad all who were in it are OK. Is it a write off, or will they fix it?

At this stage it looks like it will be fixed. Agreed value is too high, even though the crash repair place is pushing for a full rear end respray.

Bootlid wasn't hit, but creased, I guess with the impact from the bumper, the bumper and reo are gone, the rear silencer was split, even though the crash repair guy needed convincing (sounds like a chaff cutter on startup). There is a bit of damage underneath which will need repairing, but I reckon the guy was pretty conservative in his estimations of it all.

I will take it to another place recommended by a friend to get a second opinion.

Thank God that it in the final analysis, it's just a car, and that everyone inside (apart from some lingering soreness) is okay.

GK just back from OS and I echo JC's thoughts. Good luck with the new baby, BUT I know you will come back to the AU clan (yet again )

Thanks rag man!

No mods planned! Maybe one or two, but we'll see! Still doing a bit of research on them.

Cheers,
