Unhappy Commodore Anyone?

Firstly, I am a Falcon lover and a Ford Man. I have become more entrenched in my devotion as time has gone on.
But at the end of the day, for whatever reason, Ford has chosen to nolonger service my wants, and in doing so has driven another nail into the coffin of Australian manufacturing.
To be honest I hate Holdens, with an irrational passion. I will love and cherish my old Falcons till the day I die.
But for those of us that come to looking at buying a new car in the near future, is it time to start batting for the other team? I don’t know what the future is for Commodore, but assuming for the moment it stays reasonably “Australian,” should we throw our weight behind one of the last vestiges of Australian Auto Manufacturing?
I'm sure many remaining fleet Falcon buyers will now switch.

I think the answer is a no brainer. If people are so concerned about the future of manufacturing in Australia and the future of this nation in general as they make out to be, then yes, people need to wake up and forget about their silly anti-Holden preconceptions and support the remaining Aussie built vehicles.
The other option is to ignorantly purchase an imported vehicle hence supporting a foreign economy and inducing further rot in Australia's manufacturing industry.

I have basically bought Australian made vehicle all my life, I prefer holden.
my friends don't always like holden so I try and steer them to ford or Toyota, as long as its a local product.

Commodore yes. Cruze no. Camry no. Aurion maybe.

My situation is I have twin 20 month boys and a 4 yr old daughter, so I need room. For their stuff and three child seats.

I don't really want to go the 4WD route, and the price of a European SUV? Nope.

The Commodore may be a good car - I don't know, I've never driven one - but it's not for me, because it's not a Ford.

I don't care where it's made, I just want a Ford.

I believe GM will follow Ford's lead and stop local production of the Commodore with-in a couple of years of Ford. Now that Ford have taken the plunge there will be less public back-lash for GM when they do the same. Can anyone say that it's actually a surprise this has happened?

I was disappointed with the VEs my friends have had (build quality and annoying auto that hunts gears (V6). I'm sort of hoping the VF will be better. I actually reckon it looks nicer too the the VE too. however the new GTS looks yuck and I wished they left the VE rear on it. If I get too drive a VF and like it then yes I would buy one. at this stage I'm leaning towards camry or aurion. I hear those newer camry hybrids have a bit of punch in them for what they are and aurion I know personally are very responsive!

I hired an Aurion Sportivo whilst doing some business in Sydney two weeks ago.
The outside was not much to look at (probably the worst design in the range) but the rest of it was very good.
Lots of cool tech, smooth responsive engine and it was hard to tell it was a FWD. I basically flogged it over two days (hire car remember!) and it returned a fuel consumption of 10.3L/100. Aussie built and hard to fault. If only they had a better designer.

I think a Presara would be the one to get. Although the Calais price drop makes it appealing too.

Most comfortable seats would have to go to the G6E, very nice.

Maybe it's "cool" to bash the Aussie stuff these days but it is unwarranted.

while i`m not really a commy fan i think they are still a pretty decent car, but if no falcon was available i would prefer a local built rear wheel drive big sedan to one with the engine around the wrong way and wrong wheels being driven, call me a bit old fashioned but i like conventional driveline, taurus/ mundano would`nt get any consideration.

It is well known that GM isn't too happy about the supplier issues in Australia (strikes, etc) right now. I wonder if GM pulls the handbrake on Aussie production in the next 5 years.

I hired an Aurion Sportivo a few months back up in Qld, it had something like 3k on the clock, it seemed pretty well put together but man...on the road...it was horrid to drive, the steering was vague at best and it was almost scary at 110. Maybe there was something wrong with it. Anyway..on topic...I'll buy a commodore the day after I buy membership to Collingwood. I've got no problem if you guys do though.

My son has a 2 month old Camry hybrid as a company car, he used to drive our EL wagon and started to tease me saying the old Falcon had no power. Finally got to drive it the other day and was pleasantly surprised bloody hell it had some poke ,pulled like a steam train and drove very nicely.he drives it hard and it's averaging 5.6 l/100. He was spending 70 bucks a week on fuel and that lasts almost 3 weeks
Being in the trade FG's are so reliable it's not funny VE's are terrible and it's got mostly imported bits in it Holden keeps that info very quiet
Camry has lots of Aussie bits in it so I reckon it's an Aussie built Toyota for me

With the way things are looking we (the Holden side) will probably be in a similar dilliema. In 10 years time VZs, BFs, VEs, FGs, VFs will be time capsules on wheels.

The last of their kind.

Maybe buying an Aurion, but won't buy a Camry....Only difference between the 2 is engine ....Camry 4 banger....Aurion 6 banger....

I think the days of Holden bashing/Ford bashing should end....Just buy an Aussie made car so Aussies can stay in a job.....The flow on effect is immense, from suppliers to the corner shop...

I feel mostly sorry for my son who's going to grow up thinking that an 80ml 6 turbo 37 sequential speed that runs on recycled dehydrated cockroach farts while he sits there updating his facespace with his igoogle nosering is actually motoring.
