Default Holden Malibu, $28,490.

Holden Malibu On Sale In Australia From $28,490

The Motor Report

Quote:
Standard features with the entry CD model include 17-inch alloy wheels, climate control, rear view camera, Rear Park Assist, automatic-release electronic park brake, a multi-function display, steering-mounted controls, sensor key and push button start, black interior trim, auto headlights, cruise control and a trip computers.

Holden's MyLink seven-inch colour display system is also featured, offering Pandora and Stitcher SmartRadio apps, USB/Bluetooth/iPod connectivity and nine speakers.

Upgrade to the CDX and there's 18-inch alloys, black leather-appointed trim, leather steering wheel, eight-way power adjustable and heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, rain-sensing wipers, fog lights and LED tail-lights.

Standard safety features include Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Traction Control System (TCS) and Brake Assist.

There's also six airbags (driver, front passenger, front side and curtain), a break-away brake pedal, energy absorbing steering column and driver seat position sensor, three-point seatbelts in all five seating positions and ISOFIX connections at rear seating positions.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, I wonder if it will perform better then the Epica, and what effect it will have on Cruze and Commodore sales?

The front looks alright the rear is average, it may take sales away from commodore.

Seems about as desireable as an Epica.

Looks like junk.

I wonder if it bombs in sales how this will effect Holdens plans for post 2016 if they want to build something like this here as the Conformadore. Its already tanked in the US and they needed a rushed facelift to try to get sales.

This will compete with Mondeo, not Focus.

It's about the same size as the Mondeo, it's self starts at $31,490

Now, if Ford could get the Mondeo here in greater numbers, and at a lower price...

The car answer to the question no one asked...

Bit of a toe in the water, exercise I guess. If joe average accepts them then I guess Holden will look at local assembly when commo is retired.

It's not the worst looking car but apart from price I don't see why you wouldn't get a Mondeo instead. It tanked hard in the US so I wonder how it does here.

I wonder if Holden kind of want it to fail so they can convince GM that the next Commodore needs to be RWD.

Bloated ugly American/Korean mid-sized tat, minus the decent turbo engines available to the Americans.

Indeed an Epica Mk2, and will not be a patch on the Mondeo or Accord Euro dynamically.

Part of the reason why GM USA revamped their Malibu was that the interior wasn't substantially bigger than the Cruze.
I see this model going down by the bow just as Epica and Vectra before it did.

If GM brought in FWD/AWD Impala, I'd almost bet that VF would curl up and die...
