I would love to say yes, but Ranger will be it. Lots of die hard Ute fans not happy.

A lot of tradies with the falcon ute will be forced into the asian utes, particularly the ones needing the trayback version, and they just dont cut it in comparison.

I can only hope & kind of did have the Falcon in mind when working on that render, however the intent was to position it in a smaller segment. Ideally I'd prefer the Falcon to be a tad more aggressive and closer to Mustang in terms of styling.

I give that a thumbs up. A positive first reaction.
I'd love to see a Territory based single cab rendition too.

I've seen a staggering amount of Triton tray backs and utes out here being used by mines and other contractors...they seem to be the "in thing" at the moment. The price point of the excellent Ranger is a little too high for most people.

Not everyone wants a big truck, this could do well, fill the void and provide an option for those wanting a ute, but not prepared to buy a truck.

I like it

Ive had my share of hilux/triton/navara's, but none of them had the power, comfort, practicality of a falcon ute, and these days it costs more for any of those utes once you want a few comforts like air con and power windows!
but I guess for the average tradie close enough is good enough these days!!

I like the look of it -except the grille - but the idea of a FWD ute is just wrong.

Was looking at ranger as my prado replacement , but after nearly every one on sight having died, poor electrics , dud boxes , and blown turbos and engines the ranger will die a slow death ...we can't get em to last a week before they are back in the shop ...a very poor replacement for falcon :(

This still shows that there is a market in the USA for the Falcon, even if it is a ute only.
Why don't they even drop one into a motor show there and just see what the public reaction is? What is the harm in it.
I get a horrible feeling that once the Falcon is gone the idiots in head office are going to say hey we need a RWD platform to compete with Chev and Chrysler, and built it in the USA.

They are bought purely on price, and even then they are too expensive for an outdated Thai-made old tech vehicle.

I had my VW Transporter in for service earlier in the week and was shocked to see how many Amaroks were coming off trucks for roadworks, mining etc. They had the bright yellow stickers on the side, the tyre sidewall lettering painted etc. These things can't be too bad.

Yes that's correct and thanks for positive feedback. Speaking of the Falcon, I'm also working on a proposal that'll make a future illustrated appearance.

So all the FWD Vans with low rear floors are a waste of time then?

How about FWD/AWD for carrying loads and power train via the Escape in Ecoboost and diesel?

Are we getting warmer?

The person who did that ute rendering has done really well. It has a RWD passenger car feel to it, and the Atlas grille makes it look tough without looking agricultrual. Can a FWD ute carry 1Tonne+?

Not a ute, however my VW T5 Transporter fwd has carried 900kg on a pallet, so only over the rear wheels and towed a trailer carrying 1200kg, so nearing 4600Kg gross and apart from taking off up a steep, wet, gravel driveway where tc kept kicking in, it does it with ease.

Tone down the grille, RWD ONLY and have 2 engine options, ecoboost 2.0 or the 5.0, that'll be a winner in the small segment the ute addicts are in and it'll keep 'em happy for years to come.

Our company has dad similar circumstances with FWD diesel Caddys that are loaded full of tech gear and can also tow a light box trailer.
Not intended to replace Ranger, just something the next step below for ighter loads..Maybe Transit Connect for now?

Mines and contractors couldn't care less about wind up windows...how much does it carry, how tough and simple is it, and does it last. You don't need all sorts of fancy equipment when it's used and abused by a variety of hands during the days in terrible conditions.

Building "utes" that are purely sporty city cars like that rendering above doesn't really turn much of a profit for the investment...

I'm sure rather than throwing a bone to ford australia, if they wanted a vehicle like that for NA, they'd design their own instead.

Original Jumbuck was a good seller I thought?

Transits are sold as FWD/AWD in some countries and they have little worry carrying loads...

Not to distract from the thread but would be interested if you'd pop into the Ranger subforum and flesh that out a bit....
