I know this question has been done a million times, but I want to see if there's any solid evidence.
I always use premium ( they are all around 1.65 out here) and was wondering if there's any solid evidence saying that it is bad for my FG XR6 N/A? Giving the normal fuel is as low as 1.40 out here now it's a huge difference in price, but would it effect the car? |

Why would it be bad for your car when it is designed to take E10.
Use it & work it out for your self. |

My mate uses normal and was told by his mechanic to disconnect the battery before changing from premium to reset the computer.

it should not cause problems but performance may suffer if it is lower octane E10 and fuel economy will be worse

Only you can answer the question, it is your car and your driving technique.
From a pure financial perspective E10 $1.40/ltr Straight 98RON $1.65 (or roughtly 18% more expensive) Therefore for 98RON to be "financially better" your car has to achieve 18% better milage using 98RON than when using E10. My old clunker happily runs on 91RON, and when using E10 based on my vehicle and driving style, E10 is a complete and total waste of time money and effort... |

Wife's vt commy did a fuel pump running that e10 cr4p from United. I tried to tell her..... Mechanic said stick to 91.
I use 95 or 98 in my BA. This fill up I only got 14.85/100km cause I did all short trips. That was on 98 Ron. Depends on your driving habits and if you do much freeway work.

They don't have E10 up here any more, they stopped it years ago because of the damage it was doing, I wouldn't go anywhere near it.

Used to run e10 in an EL. Stopped when one day fuel started purging out the rear of the car while driving along. Inspected fuel pump and fuel line was literally eroded as if by acid. Since then have never touched e10, the 'garbage fuel'. E10 is only worth it if priced at 1.10 or less.

100,000km plus on my FG, faultless and efficient with E10.
E10 in my 2004 TL Magna is another matter as she runs like a dog, so I stick to 95ron. |

I think the thing people are forgetting is newer cars are designed better for E10.
Comparing an FG to an EL in relation to running E10 is like comparing an EL to an XA on unleaded.
