Default F250 blowing smoke

Hi

Was wondering if anyone could help/give me some advice.

I have a 1988 F250 with multiple issues. It has an oil leak from the cylinder heads I think, oil on the valve covers. It blows white smoke but coolant isn’t milky, and one mechanic told me its not the head gasket. This has lead to the car being defected.

Was looking for somewhere to take the car to be fixed up as F-trucks WA are fully booked. Also not actually sure exactly what needs to be fixed, just a replacement for heads or perhaps a full rebuild.

Thanks.

I had a problem with my old 1982 F350 (351 Auto) blowing white smoke, had me beat why and was about to pull the motor when someone smarter than me at the time said "check the Vacuum Modulator Valve first"......

Sure enough the diaphragm was stuffed in the MV allowing transmission fluid to be sucked into the intake manifold (via the vacuum line connected to the intake manifold) and been burnt through the engine (when flooring it it left a smoke screen )

You don't say whether yours is an auto or not?, if it is, unplug the vacuum line at the Vacuum Modulator Valve and if there is transmission fluid in it, Replace the Vacuum Modulator Valve.....It saved me heaps of time effort and $$ in pulling the engine and ripping it down for nothing....

Hopefully that's all it is for you......

Sorry, its a 460 on petrol with a 3 speed auto. Doesn't blow at idle but the more revs the more smoke. It's like a dirty white-grey smoke.

Will check my vacuum lines on the next weekend thanks DJR-351.

I'm with DJR-351 on this one - as it happened to me once. Don't forget to top up your transmission fluid as well !!
