Exclamation Holden VF Commodore International Edition

My Comment : It hasn't been on the market 6 months and special edition model is released.

Holden's International badge is back, this time celebrating 35 years of the carmaker's most iconic badge: Commodore.

The new special comes as a bittersweet milestone for the Australian-made car however, as Holden considers the future of its local manufacturing operations.

Whatever the future may hold, the new VF Commodore is a frontrunner for TMR's 2013 Best Buy awards, and the International Edition builds on an already sweet package.

"The ‘International’ badge is fitting for the VF Commodore, which has received critical acclaim as a car that rivals the world’s best," Holden's Phil Brook said today.

“The VF range has been very well received and we’ve continued to look at how we can offer maximum value, so we’re delighted to be able to introduce an even more compelling package to large car buyers."

Priced at $36,990 for the sedan and $38,990 for the Sportwagon, the International gets leather accented seats, 18-inch alloy wheels, Blind Spot Alert and Reverse Traffic Alert.

There's also a leather steering wheel and gear shifter, LED daytime running lights, dark-backed headlights, a rear cargo blind for the wagon body, and - of course - International badging.

The Commodore International is powered by Holden's 3.0 litre V6 petrol engine.

Already standard across the VF range is Holden's MyLink infotainment system, full iPod integration with Siri Eyes Free, Bluetooth calling and audio streaming.

Other VF standard kit includes six airbags, ECS/ABS/TCS, ISOFIX child seat points, trailer sway control, hill hold control and hill start assist.

Are local car makers stuck in the 90s? When are they going to bring out something interesting or new?

They did the same thing when VE came out... Did the special V Edition Omega's...

Sadly for Holden and Ford Limited Editions are bread and butter cars, just shows how much margin is in the likes of Calais V's. That's why I'm surprised Ford has not done a Limited Edition Falcon or Territory this year!

Yeah we need something, but not the usual stuff that ends up in a Avis lot. What about a retro edition with pastel green or blues and other cool styling features. Or a Commodore or Falcon MAX - an agressive off road styled styled car.

We have such a rich and quirky history making and creating cars in a country with a population smaller than Texas, yet we get the same old vanilla flavour that no one wants.

Deal breaker: "The Commodore International is powered by Holden's 3.0 litre V6 petrol engine"

Otherwise a pretty nice package if you like that sort of thing

3L V6 ruins the package a little for me. besides that it sounds alright. It might be better now in the VF?? I'd have to drive a one to find out but I wasn't impressed by the 3L in the VE

Probably would be worth optioning the LPG engine on the International, its the 3.6. $2500 option but you would get a $2000 government rebate which makes it a cheap upgrade.

So basically what they are saying is that their link to the past is the 186 cu/inch motor.

If I had on I would get a set of HK/T/G 186S fender badges fitted.....lol...

True, but still hardly any room in the rear.

I'd rather spend sub $40,000 on a 2nd hand Mondeo Titanium TDCI wagon.
