Hopefully there will be a follow-up story tomorrow with the headline: $100,000 for a Commodore? HSV dealers try to cash in.

They tried the same thing with BF Cobras. Perhaps in a few decades they might appreciate.

It took 37 years for my falcon 500 GS coupe to be with something
You couldn't give these things away for 15 years or so
So I recon the price is going to come way down before it goes back up again

They always compare limited addition cars to Bathurst models
The truth is there aren't any more Bathurst models
That why the phase 3 and Bathurst monaro's are worth so much cos they were built for Bathurst not accountants , company CEO's and plumbers (they all earn about the same lol)

seriously. Drive haven't much to write about now do they? Most dealers haven't any left to sell and if they do, they are probably the dealers that were asking over the odds and refuse to sell at MLP. Anyway. you can ask as much as you like for whatever you want but its only worth what people will pay for it. And right now!!!! No R-Spec is worth anything north of 90k!

What a laugh, the price will go down, new GT at the moment is $75,000 just priced one at Etheridge ford, its black and on the show room floor.
Or will this mean my 1970 XW is now worth $300,000?
Any car is only worth what some mug will pay for it.
I can buy a 2003 GT for about $12,000

If you had $115k on a second hand GT would you seriously get a FG or any modern GT. I think not.

If I had 115 kay Id buy 2... a New GT and a new F6... LOL

If I parked them both in the shed I am sure they would be worth more then 1 Rspec in the long run!

Especially if they had matching build numbers and colour... If I win the lotto this weekend im going to buy 1 of Each in the same colour to park up... all in black!

A car is worth whatever someone wants to pay for it.
I highly doubt anyone is going to pay anywhere near that, though

So why would someone pay 115k for a limited edition GT when FPV will be releasing new versions of limited editions next year which will be the final ones, and they will sell for what, maybe 30k less?

I think you can just about guarantee that none of these over inflated price cars will sell, and in 12 months time they will still be up on carsales unsold.

Some of the comments written under the article were pretty cruel, those comparing a second hand AMG E63 are quite a bit off. Try servicing or replacing a part on the AMG and get back to me with a price.
One day these cars will be worth something, but not for another 15 years at least when everyone is driving Chery, Great Wall and Daewoo. Then, the only large affordable car available will be the Stavic.

For the time being, ........, mine is not for sale! Haha!

We were talking about this in the office today and the reasoning is that asking these sort of prices is a tad premature:

1) No racing heritage like the XW/XY
2) There are still FPV's coming out next year; we just don't know what will be on offer.

Sorry to the steel bumper brigade, but the racing heritage thing is just rubbish. Yes it adds a little bit, but the old muscle cars went up in value because they were muscle cars, and the fastest, most exclusive one became the most expensive.

So one day, the current GTS and R Spec GT will be worth a bundle - because they will be the fastest aussie muscle cars ever built. It will just take 30 years. Buy a low kay one of both in 2030 if you are a smart investor.
