Lightbulb A long-lasting argument

Hey guys! Dont know if you're bored of these kind of posts but need to ask someone!
So my friend has a Holden Commodore VT S1, with just a Home-made CAI with no cover over it, auto. Stock 147kw.
I have a AU XR6 S1 with the following modifications-
Extractors, Hi-Flow CAT, 2.5" Catback, XR8 Air intake snorkel, High air flow panel filter, F6 Lower cold air intake. Factory 5Spd manual and LSD. Stock 164kw.
Now I understand this post may seem immature but I just have to know hahah.

I have a clear idea that i'd win, but hes just so persistent and stubborn, and convincing that even I doubt myself sometimes!!

So just your honest opinions, thanks guys.

Put em side by side on a quiet road in the middle of nowhere and wipe the grin off his face.
Easy.
Or take it to the strip.

Personally I never get bored of these threads....everyone has their own pride and joy at different times in their lives.
I'd put the house on your xr. The auto in the commie will still be searching for what gear it wants as you hit the line.

Your XR would give the Commodore a comprehensive flogging, in every way.
Even standard your XR would handily outperform it.

my current VX V6 wagon with catback and K&N panel does a 9.4s 0-100km tested by gps,
my old AU2 XR6 HP 5sp with XR8 snorkel K&N panel and catback did 7.4s 0-100km
so you will smash him...by over a car length

just tell him fords are better than holdens and be done with it!

Tell old mate to put his money were his mouth is & invite him to a local street meet night

He might get you for the first 10 meters until you hit around 3000 rpm in first then bye bye.....

Stock vt v6 when new were up to 0.9 second slower than a stock forte over 0 -100. Game over!

cheers, Maka

The real question is does he have chev badges on it?
Holden chaps assure me they're good for another 50kw at the wheels.

In all seriousness get him to check all your globes work while he's back there!

take him to a strip . don't be tempted to take him on in a street race apart from the safety concerns they take your car and licence off you for that .
hope he likes the look of your tail lights , that's all he'll see at the finish line

Yep to the strip you both go...but make sure you are the better driver as the faster car may not always win. Ive seen/heard handbrakes left on, missed gears, slippery track, wrong tyre pressures, bad tyres and so many other 'excuses' for loosing to the slower car when in fact it was probably just the slow driver in the so called faster car.
And lets be honest. the car is only as fast as you can pedal it...can you pedal it quick enough to win?
Plus a night out at the drags with your mate is great fun, especially after you win cause he had excuses!.

Yours is manual, which means you can't just stomp and steer like he can. Are you confident in getting the car off the line and shifting quickly?

Ps, all that info at the bottom of your post you can put in your signature

A bog stock 6 cylinder AU will flog a bog stock N/A V6 Commodore. the faster the speed the more the falcon pulls away. Driven a few 6 cylinder AUs and VTs. I've really notice the difference at Highway speeds between them

Your mate sounds like one of these guys who, even if he lost a race, he would STILL be convinced the VT is faster...."it's just the humidity was too high" or "I used the wrong fuel when I filled up last" are just some of the many, many excuses you would hear.

You should offer to street race him, just notify the local cops first, so when he loses the commy for 3 months he might learn to shut up!

I had a mate like that once. I owned a valiant ranger sedan with a 245 Hemi, he had a VH commy with a "brand new"..."tuned" 202.

He lined me up at a set of lights & gave me the nod one day. We both floored it but as it happened the Hemi & with the 3 speed auto kinda left him on the line.

He's excuse for the loss...."I stalled it" !!!........HE HAD AN AUTO TOO!!!

ROTFLMFAO

I was with the same mate on another occasion, we rolled up to a light in the VH, stopped next to a charger. I peered over & saw the "265 HEMI" badge on the guard. With tongue in cheek I say's to 'ol mate "go on give him a go" LOL
The road was wet, the VH slipped & sat still, the perfect excuse for THAT loss too!

Hard to call - Depends if your mates commie wears a Chev badge, and if your mate wears his aerodynamic light weight Kappa track pants.

My only advice is to never argue with a Holden inbred idiot - they drag you down to their level of intelligence then win through experience....
