Default More SA Revenue Robbery

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/s...-1226788193574

They've taken the rego stickers away so now we're relying on them to deliver our rego renew notices correctly & on time which doesn't always happen.

don't you get a green slip renewal posted to you by your insurer?
plus the rego renewal notice also sent out?

seriously how many reminders do you need?

it's not that difficult....put a reminder in your mobile phone and diary too

Here in Tasmania rego stickers are a thing of the past. That's not to say it should be a problem

Here in Tas' you can go to www.dier.tas.gov.au/‎ , click on TRANSPORT & then click on registration status in the quick link section. I did it just a couple of weeks ago. Type in your rego plate & it shows when the rego expires. How hard can it be...seriously!

If car owners fail to re-register their vehicle/s & blame the non issue of rego stickers then they are idiots & only have themselves to blame. Take responsibility people.

First world problems are so funny. All states also offer the service where by you can go to any government shop front within the last 3 months of registration & renew it.

Insurers don't post reminders (none that I've dealt with anyway). The fact I'm pointing out here is an almost x3 increase because they don't believe the existing fine was enough of a deterrent. How many other fines need to increase 3 fold because they want more of a deterrent?

We don't get a green slip in this state. Your third party is part of your rego. The only thing you get is renewal papers posted out usually 3-4 weeks before expiry. So next time you hear us complaining about rego costs, remember that also includes the compulsory third party component unlike other states that have separate rego and then you shop around for third party or "green slip".

In NSW 3rd party (compulsory green slip) insurers post a renewal notice prior to the expiry date plus RMS post renewal notice for rego prior to the expiry

i support the increse because too many people still don't pay rego yet drive their cars.

This is a great way to encourage people to take responsibility and ensure their car is always regoed

In the NT renewals get sent out about 7 weeks before your rego expires. The number of times it has adorned the fridge and then forgotten is comical. I always put a reminder in my MS office calender about a week before expiry. The guv can only do so much. The rest is up to the individual.

The number of un rego'd cars here would be comical too if they weren't involved in so many drunken accidents.

Clearly you then also support the increase in fixed & hidden speed camera locations along with the lowering of over-limit tolerances because it will also "encourage people to take responsibility"?

They have just done away with the stickers in Vic, but they still send you a pay now reminder.

What I stated in that previous comment relates. It goes with the trend of SA government continuing to rob the SA motorist anyway they can.

Please don't start another 'I'm so terrific that I don't speed anywhere anytime so I never have to worry' argument!

I understand that other states are worse, but it doesn't mean that SA needs to catch up (we remain behind on everything else it seems ). I've seen plenty more speed cameras being placed in spots with very little accident history, but other intersections which are known black spots & have claimed quite a few lives left untouched. It's all about the Benjamins.

Hahah.
I got a speeding ticket some time ago for doing 117 in a 100 zone, gnikcuf bullshit , no way, then I back tracked.............owwwh yeah......

There was a speed camera and all the traffic slowed to 80 in the 100 zone......morons.....nice long straight......Ill get around these tossers no worries and I wont even break the 100 limit.......nice.......
Part way around all them a car came over the hill, kcuf, tramp it, but keep it under 120ks the license cancel speed.

When I got the fine I was spitting fire denying it to the missus, then I went , owwwh yeah, now I remember......

If you miss the sticker that much, then get one of these:

WA stopped using stickers years ago, no problems. Not that hard to keep track of and you get letters sent out anyway come renewal time.

I see the govt trying to make the recidivist no hopers do the right thing and actually register their vehicle, BUT these people will drive without rego no matter what.Jail seems like a good punishment. Notice, i didnt say deterrent, becuase they will do it anyway.
The ones who it will hit unfairly are those who are out of rego for a week by accident, with no intention of this happening.
My ex realized she was driving her Honda for 7 days on expired rego, fortunately she didnt get pulled over or go thru a Numberplate Rec Camera. She didnt see a renewal, i reminded her that it is the DRIVERS responsibility for EVERY journey in ANY vehicle to check the rego.
I will always check cars not owned by me, rental cars, service loan cars before driving off.

I can't comment for the other states, but NSW you do get the renewal in the post and you can also elect to get reminder emails from the RMS. I think you get 2 or 3 reminder emails before the rego expires.

Personally, I'm getting tired of Governments of all types dipping further into our pockets while reducing services/staff and then devolving more responsibilty to the taxpayer.

Send me a rego notice and send me a label and I'll be happy.

once labels are no longer required all label offences go too

so now on your classic car you can display a period label w/out any issues
