Revealed in full in China, the new Escort. Dont know where this fits into the scheme of things at the moment though. Between a Fiesta and Focus? Didnt think there was room but dont know if its going to appear here for a while.

Looks nice, but how come they can show us a 2015 car, but not one that starts manufacture in a month?

The way it fits in I believe is it will be China only. Like how the Figo etc are domestic only.

Ford sold over 930,000 cars in China last year ....... I am sure they can safely build a car just for that market. Makes you think why they bothered with the Australian market and makes you appreciate that we still do have our car, albeit for a short time only.

Stretched focus platform. Mostly in the rear door so rear occupants have more leg room.
LHD only. Insane build numbers though. I believe focus sells around 30,000 a month there. Cheers

I've had a hard time trying to understand why there's been so much interest in this car. Pretty sure they stated a while ago that it was solely developed for the Chinese market. Is it because it previews styling cues for the next generation of 'one Ford' cars? What makes this thing any more appealing than a new Hyundai model? Or a Simpson dishwasher? I don't get it.
Is it because it wears an 'Escort' badge? |

........ and yes, it has the name Escort on it. If it was called the Ford Chinee, no one would say boo.

That, and the Ford badge, and the fact that it was engineered here.
Don't forget that Ford still have a world class R&D team designing great global cars for Ford, and that's something to be proud of.

Yep.... 'One' of many Fords that we wont get by the looks of it. I actually like it, even that colour! I will call it the Ford Focus LTD just to make me feel better!

Don't understand why Ford ever let the Ford Focus RS die in AUS? ... It had the looks , power, and was priced well. With UK having had exposure to both the RS and Lotus Cosworth , the Focus RS would have been a cult car in Aust in no time .

I have nothing against the performance and look of the Focus ST , but gee , you can't compare the ST with the former RS ..

Saw the interior on another site. Better than Focus, IMO. More conventional looking and seems almost on par with Golf. It would be a successful Corolla rival here.
