I was driving thru a carpark and a trayback ute reversed and hit me. The insurance repair quote is just under $4k to repair. The damage doesn't look much. The insurance company are repairing it, reason for high cost of repairs is Feista parts are expensive, door skin and quarter panel and labour. Car is insured for $8700, thought it might be a write off..but no...http://s1197.photobucket.com/user/ze...00747.jpg.html

That looks like it will almost buff out.
Geez . . 4 thousand bucks to fix that? I must be out of touch with what cars cost to repair. Cheers Mike

Wonder if it was higher? I hear insurance assessors really go over repair quotes and screw everything down to save money. For that I would expect a first class repair.

Ask the insurer for the cash instead.

Thanks for the info, guys, insurance companies will only payout what they have too and no more !!! Panel shop talked about a door from GC but insurance wouldn't have it....

It's possible the hinge and slam pillars are damaged from that impact.
In all honesty, I really don't understand why people complain about a fairly priced repair when they have zero experience in the panel trade and those same people will probably complain when the insurance company want to do a cheap and shoddy repair. It is what it is, why would you want to save an insurance company money when they are ridiculous profits.
