Default Poll/ which car will be more collectable? 351GTF or VF GTS

Feel free to state your reasons below(removing as much bias as possible) as to which car of the two will be more sought after or collectible in the future. The GTF 351 or the VF GTS.

For me it's clearly the 351 GTF. Not only does it share links/heritage to arguably the most famous car in Australian history, I think it sits perfectly in that it doesn't offend history nor borrow on past fame too much by using the 351 badge and not a GTHO or similiar name! Aswell as the "F" for final as the last ever falcon.
As I've mentioned elsewhere the vf GTS appears in looks as just another modern car with ZERO heritage....despite it's just another hsv.
BUT the big thing is, no one is paying full rrp for the hsvs......but people are prepared to pay WAY over the rrp of the ford to pocket one. That to me says ALOT as that's NEVER happened before.(not to mention the rate numbered ones ford will auction off)

So as ussual it's just a poll and it's just my opinion so I'll skip the flame suit

If I was to crystal ball, I'd say 351. The GT name is much bigger and the GTF is a limited build model. The GTS is otherwise just another HSV. But who knows what Holden/HSV have planned for 2017, maybe they'll surprise us with something the way Ford surprised us with the 351?

the GT-F will be more collectable limited released tagged the Last of the GT's. that alone translates into demand in a few years time. also 1TUFFUTE has stated "heritage" the car itself is a piece of Australian history where as the GTS has no heritage.

If the GT F is mothballed and they all survive and the GTS becomes a rust bucket and in 40years there are only 2 left.
I’d say the GTS

When we were driving around in the ‘70s most of us common folk weren’t thinking about the cars we were driving as ever being collectable. They were just the hot cars of the day.
Makes me wonder if we have any clue on what will be the criteria for future collectables given all the speculators that now exist.

They will both end up as old cars that no one cares about. Dinosaurs that ran on dinosaur fuel. I think we will see a real change in cars by the time these are old.

Makes you wonder if they will be collectable at all. The new monaro's were going to be collectible and I see one for sale in a car yard for $18,000.00 . I have just sold my 69 Mustang Fastback. I grew up wanting one so bad but my son and his mates couldn't give a bugger about these cars or the cars of today. And they are the next generation...........

Unless Holden has been spending up big (and stupidly) to make a Manaro GTS it doesn't really have what it takes to be more collectable than the Ford. Either way youd make more profit investing then if you buy the cars and one happen to become collectable in 30-40 years.

Your comparing a limited edition GTF to a run of the mill GTS.

HSV haven't played their last cards yet, do you honestly believe they wont offer their own limited edition final bang?

The GTF is a great car, but giving it a limited build run and adding features which should have been standard items in the GT335 doesn't make it a GTS competitor in anything except maybe 400m sprints.

Neither, both are just run of the mill sedans with performance added. No racing pedigree behind them to justify it, they're just a name. They'll both suffer from shocking depreciation and that's about it.

Bit of a silly poll, we're comparing the last of a kind with a generic non special model. The only answer to the above question is the GT-F. The GTS is not special or limited in any way.

Perhaps it would be better to poll GT-F versus whatever special HSV come out with for the end of the commodore.

I remember reading that the HSV range was the worse vehicle on the market for depreciation. I'm sure FPV are not far behind. Mate up in Mackay said there a HSV's for sale everywhere up there at the moment. And I think the Mackay Dealer had the biggest sales in Australia. Probly not now thou with the way things are at the moment...........

Most recent GTS models have been pretty lackluster with holding value.
I'd have expected the VY GTS & V2 GTS Coupe(And to a lesser extent the VX2 version) to be much more valuable than they are at present just for the fact of rarity and they were made during Holdens "Golden era" which I would assume people would look back fondly on.
That's why I believe the GTS will only ever be just another HSV.

Poll should be "Which will depreciate the least"?

GT-F will be better resale than the GTS as it is limited ..... and a GT. It is afterall the last one. FPV's depreciation is no where near as bad as other cars, actually do quite well .... but collectable? As much as the Anniversary & Cobra models is my guess. Be worth a little bit more at the moment ....... drop in 3-5 years time ..... and then 15-20 years time climb again but never above the buy price.

GTS will depreciate more and wont climb. They are still making them and there will be something better from HSV. VF11 and their LE equivalent finally.

But modern GT's would never be in the same bracket as the X series GT's and as an investment ..... kidding yourselves if thats why they were bought.

50 years from now, everybody will still remember the GT. Less will care about the GTF. It will become a special collectors item. Same for GTE, GTP AND F6. If i wanted a GT, i would get a GT, not a gte or a gtp or a gtf, but a GT

I thought it was a silly poll too....but that's what polls are for. Clearly there are those that think the GTS will be the more collectible of the two, as that's what they voted.

I've heard some say you need big mechanical changes for a sought after collectible....but if that was the case surely the w427 would be a shining light!

And well have to wait for future models to be released for a poll on those

The W427 will be more collectable than an LSA GTS (unless they release a LSA GTS R).

R Spec and GT F will be on par IMO. The rest of the sticker specials, well, pick which look you like the best.

Stock standard F6 R Specs will be very collectable too.

It still may become one yet.

For 30 years not too many people cared for an old green XA GT with HO on the compliance plate either, who wouldn't want it today...

IMHO , Ford enthusiasts will pay more coin and are a lot more fussy about options and colours and heritage than their red team counterparts.

If I was a collector and I had a choice of which car I would bet on to make more money for me, anything with a ford GT badge would win hands down. GTF will likely command more interest and retain its value better than GTS.
I vote GTF.

Neither, as in neither have the racing heritage, legend status or cult following of yester-year. Take a look at the asking price of other limited run FPV's and take a look at the $20-30k depreciation the GTS has. We live in a strange time where everything is constantly churned and disposable, where it is cheaper next week and obsolete the week after. My guess in 5-10 years time there will be a Chinese supercar which will give the establishment a run for its money and cost $50,000.

No mighty cleveland, No mighty windsor, and no bathurst.
The GTS (to this date) is the most powerful production car made, and like the GTHOs could likely be remembered for this.

Well, if the last Fairlane & LTD, last Falcon Wagon, and the XB GT are anything to go by. Then the only time we are going to see daft prices on the GTF & GTS is from sellers still thinking its 2006 & they own a Phase 3....

Voted GTS as its more then just a few tweaks over the base model but I don't really think either will gain much value if any tbh. Maybe the F6 as its an Australian engine in an Australian car?

Plus if you want to invest 80k in a GT, probably better off sticking to a 70's model.

Ask the same question on a Holden forum and you'd expect the majority to give an equally as bias answer.

In 20-30 years time, I'd expect a mint condition, very low km example of any of today's performance cars to be some what collectable to a minority.

Over the last 15 years, we've been been lucky enough to live in era in which there are so many great examples of performance vehicles on offer. The accessibility to high powered and sports orientated cars has arguably never been better.

From the basic BA-FG XR6T, XR8, VT-VF SS and every single different variant in-between up to the current GT-F & GTS, and so many great Turbo 4 Cylinder Euro & JDM cars on offer.

However again, with accessibility to high powered and sports orientated cars today never being better, it may mean an overexposure, and an overwhelming number of today's models still on the road come 20 years. Potentially the only real selling point could be the fact, the vehicle is either a Commodore or Falcon with a V8.

An idealist could sit there and predict any number of today's cars a potential collectable, but I doubt anything produced today will command VL/VN SS Group A money.
