Hi all
So I'm not to sure how many people know about the changes that are currently being reviewed by the nsw transport ... Although they are asking for the publics thoughts ! Have a read , there are some interesting things in there that will benefit newer cars .. Such as month by month rego and so on.. Here is a link to the website .. http://vehicleregistration.engagementhq.com Have a read! What are your thoughts and what would you like to see happen . Cheers Reece

The monthly option is because they're making it too expensive to register annually, hence the 6 month option brought in a few years ago.

It will be different that's for sure , it will be great in my opinion having it come out monthly and not having to find a lump sum quickly if times get tuff

So basically they want to charge based on weight + environmental rating + ANCAP rating.
They're not stupid - as hybrids, plug in hybrids and electric cars become more popular Joe Bloggs will think they're saving money on registration because they score highly on the environmental rating. But they also weigh a lot more than a petrol / diesel / LPG car so they'll get stung for the cars weight! |

They'll have to get rid of this battery idea and go back to the future style with a flux capacitor to keep weight down

The flux capacitor only made time travel possible. Plutonium, and later Mr Fusion, powered the flux capacitor. The car itself ran on regular gasoline, which was required to get up to 88mph.
I suspect that solar panels or a big Prius Battery may have struggled.

Here in NSW you can get a 6 month and a 12 month option .
I THINK dealers and car yards can do 3 month rego but I'm not 100% sure

Queensland has a 6 month option, however good old Qld Transport charges you a premium for it.
12 months rego & CTP for my Navara ute was this year was $706.50 and 6 months would have been $370.25, so $740.50 for a years worth. Not too bad I guess, but they just have to milk that little bit extra out of each punter! Russ. |

Green slip will cost me close to $550 through the NRMA .. Which is the same as any other quote I've gotten ...
