Just did the FPV Drive Day today. All I can say is WOW. What a fantastic and fun day. Learnt heaps, got to enjoy plenty of laps around Sandown, with a great bunch of instructors and fellow enthusiasts.
Great way to learn about your vehicle and its capabilities. Worst part was driving home...and having to be one of the peak hr drivers again. If you get the chance to do one of the Drive days make sure you do. You will be pleasantly surprised with what your FPV can do.

And the fact they are getting a work out. Rather than lazing around in a shed.

Might have to re-think doing it .. I would prefer to be doing it a loan car , i dont know what i would do , if the un thinkable happened , and i hit someone and or someone hit me , Or ...........i spun and hit the rail ..
My children purchased 14 laps of Sandown in a Ford , and i was hooked .. It is so easy to come away from a track day , car and or bike and be hooked .. you start the day, with the legs shaking like a leaf, and end up, in the case of a instruction day, with the instructor having to forcefully remind you , your time is up and to get out !!and thinking you are half a V8 Supercar driver .. |

I'm doing my day at Eastern Creek in November!
I did one in the GTP back in 2004, had a great day, totally safe and yes, you do come away marvelling at the capabilities of your FPV, the ability of the FPV "assistants", and I just shook my head at my own lack of ability!

And for those that want to know how much fuel we used...
I used about 30lt (avg economy went up to 19lt/100). All the V8 engined cars were 19-20lt/100. The guys with the F6 cars were up around 28-30lt/100!! ..those Turbo 6's like a drink when they get pushed!.

Petrol usage - Gladly , would give up a tank of fuel of some honest , clean , pain in the back of your neck fun !!.However , my other concern has been , other than a mishap - was frying the front rotor's . I wonder with this spirited driving and heavy braking , whether the life expectancy of the front rotors is reduced / diminished ?

You only have to drive it as fast as YOU want to. I had my day in my first BA GT with Greg Ritter at Calder and believe me these cars do things you would believe in ordinary driving. Thought once o twice we wer not going to make it but we did , no problems. One guy actually threw up in his new GT-P
The wear on your tyres will be greater than anything on your brakes , it all depends on you. Decided not to bother with my 2nd GT. GT450 |

They did that when I took my BF F6 back in 2006. FPV had a problem with the stability control at that time and I told Terry Bowe my car would spin if I attempted it. He said to go ahead and it spun. He got in the driver seat ... and it spun. End of the story 18 months later I encountered an oil spill on the left side of my lane and the right wheel kept driving ... resulting in my F6 executing an immediate left turn into a rock wall at 80kph and was written off. |

the only thing I will avoid when my GTF arrives is the continual emergency braking you do on the brake and swerve exercise. On my GTE it affected my front brakes thereafter - they squeeked and the pedal feel was never the same again. Other than than, highly recommended as you do get to work your car out. My car scared Terry, he was not expecting 500rwkw when he took it for a spin (I left that part out, and just said, treat her with respect, she is quite tuned you know).
The look he gave me before was 'yeah yeah', the grin he gave me when he pulled back up after a lap was priceless coupled with 'holy ****, that is V8 supercar material, just smoother, I should get John to have a drive....' haha |

I have fond memories of my drive day at sandown back in November 2007.
Stinkin hot day , lots of fun , came 2nd overall for the day after all events , changed the colour of the brembos from red to dark crimson , shagged the tyres and got 2 laps in my own car with Luke Youlden at the helm ( nappy change required ) LUVED IT. |

It does look a bit yellowish......but it's actually the Orange...not sure of the 'correct' colour name, I'm sure some will point it out!

Got my date wrong.
It's actually December 02 at Eastern Creek. Hopefully can get some other R-Specs there and a GT-F or 2 or 3 or more!
