Default Any discussion on Everest?

Just searched the forums looking for a discussion on the new Everest. Am I missing something, or isn't there one? From what I understand it's quite a big deal, so rather surprising there's no place on here to discuss it. Unless I have overlooked something...

Engine responds very well to mods, but auto gearbox can become unsettled trying to cope with the extra torque. Good fuel economy overall: 9-12L/100km city, 8L/100 country.

Most are focused on the new Falcon at the moment, but once it is released we might concentrate more on the Everest and Edge.

It's funny that the Everest and the Edge when released will each probably sell as many per month as the Falcon yet I highly doubt that either will generate the discussion the last Falcon has, 8 odd thousand posts and close to 700000 views and it's still not finished

Hi spvd,
Consider it as a competitor to the likes of the Mitsubishi Outlander and the Nissan Pathfinder. While the Territory and Klugar are essentially car-based, the Everest will be ute based (Ranger).
So it’ll be a bit rough around the edges and I presume it’ll be diesel-only. It should be safe to assume it’ll be a 7 seater and overall I’ve got high expectations (after seeing what Ford Aus did with the Territory and Falcon considering their budget constraints).
I expect it’ll be quite popular too as Ford have struggled with not having a SUV larger than the Territory (the third row was really only toddler-only) since the Explorer was dropped (due to emission rules I think?)
Next year should be a good year for Ford Aus.

Rough around the edges ?

Nope.

It'll be first class and drive and feel best in class.

I would also hazard a guess that being a global vehicle Everest is being tested around the world and not due for release for a while yet and maybe has more "secrecy" still around it whereas the new Falcon is nearing release time and being a local only product does not have the same info clamp on it from HQ. Everest will be a class leading vehicle, coil rear sprung and different interior to Ranger, iirc.

I took this screen grab because when trublu said go to the Ranger section my immediate thought was "there's a Ranger section???"

That section of the forums has always been ordered a little oddly to my thinking. Whereas in other areas the blue main header is "General Topics", "Club & Specialty Forums", "Ford Passenger Cars" etc..., this section isn't "Ford SUV & Commercial Vehicles" or something similar. Instead the Territory forum is at the top level, and the Ranger forum is a second tier forum in Utes & Vans.

Perhaps the mods could look at creating a "Ranger & Everest" forum at the same level as the "Escape, Kuga & Ecosport" forum. Certainly considering the current sales landscape it should get more play on AFF than the "F-Series & Bronco", which was deemed to deserve a top level forum, and also move the Territory forums down out of the blue section into the white with other model specific sections...

Might have been doing a Davis Dam test. Seems to be the popular spot for testing right now.

Having just bought a Isuzu muX I can report that the ride and drivability of the muX as compared to the Dmax is chaulk and cheese. If ford au can replicate the territory road manners in the everest , well they will have an absolute winner. The muX is a pretty good wagon/4wd and will take some topping imho, but I am sure ford au will do it. There are some real areas that could have been done better. Fords problem is that they are 2 years behind with getting product to market and most probably will be considerably more expensive. Ranger v Dmax $ wise, no comparison.

If you check the prices between a Dmax & Ranger & compare the differences you will understand why Ford is dearer & much better vehicle.
I would expect when Everest model is released it will be a top class vehicle like the Ranger series.

Looks like a great vehicle. I Think I may have talked the wife around to one. I have another 6 months though till the current Terri lease is done.
