Was watching ACA last night and they showed that KIA have come out punching high and low with a new warranty period of 7 years PLUS unlimited Kilometres....
Now thats hard to beat.....Lets see Ford do the same??? |

That's pretty impressive, its not hard to see how the Asian brands have come from being pretty low on car buyers list and now near the very pointy end of the list.

I think part of their rise was employing European design talent wasn't it?
It's definitely a wicked combo getting the cheap mostly reliable build with the euro style designing.

Now that Kia's cars are quite reasonable, this warranty is amazing value and peace of mind. |

Not a chance that Ford will hope to match that. Means they would need to jump from 3 yrs to 7.
My first Kia was my Festiva. Bloody bullet proof. The next new car WILL be a Kia unless other brands match that warranty. 7 years has been available in Europe for a few years now. Well done to the Koreans for bringing it here!

God damn, that's impressive. I do 30,000km per year so thats a 210,000km warranty for me.
It's likely that the next daily driver will be some kind of SUV, this will put Kia on the shopping list. Who's gonna match that??

Ye I could'nt believe it today....Missus was talking about possibly buying a new small car and straight away I thought about a new KIA with this new 7 years warranty...Pretty unbeatable.
Its a shame Ford cant come to the party and at least go to 5 yrs. Last edited by GASWAGON; 03-10-2014 at 07:45 PM. |

I will sit back with a big bag of popcorn and wait for all the fine print, the exclusions, the repeated call backs for the same problems.
Just cannot see this lasting. BTW there has been an Australian built car with a TEN year warranty, so this isn't all that new. |

That was on the powertrain only and non-transferable from the first to following owners.

"This is a watershed moment," said Mr Meredith. "Kia customers now have a peace of mind that can't be matched in the Australian new car market."
The deal includes free roadside assistance for seven years -- if the car is serviced at a Kia dealer once a year. Kia has also extended its capped price servicing program to seven years -- one of the longest in the car business -- and that prices of routine maintenance will remain the same as before. "The two year increase in warranty, capped-price servicing and roadside assist is absolutely transparent and we will not be asking our customers to dip into their pockets to fund the extra benefits," said Mr Meredith. http://www.carsguide.com.au/car-news...9#.VC6Vjhb1KEp http://www.kia.com.au/owners/unlimited-km-warranty

I reckon this warranty will help make the 2015 Kia Carnival a hit here.
A 205kw petrol V6 or a 437nm diesel and its a big boy at 5.2 metres long. |

A big hit with rental car companies, but otherwise 'minivans' will never be a hit with the public.

After driving over a dozen cars from the Fiat 500 to a Chrysler 300C today the one thing that struck me is how big the Carnival is... if the new one is 5.2m long I think that will actually put some buyers off. And the current 'old' V6 sure has some poke.. 205kw in the new one?? Won't under perform on the road that's for sure!

I've been looking at a new car recently (7 seaters), in the end we've decided to hold off for another 12 months but it was very tough for any other manufaturer especially the much raved about Toyota Kluger to compete when Kia came with an extra 4 years and unlimited km warranty. Sorry, but the sensible person inside of me says that not having to worry about any car issues for 7 years is just too good to pass up.
Apologies to Ford/Toyota and the rest but Kia won me over with that. |

Hyundai should follow suit soon anyway considering that they share so much mechanical hardware with Kia.

Interesting how cars are now more affordable than ever. Customer of mine gets his EL Fairmont serviced by me. Whenever I go to get the service books out the original receipt of purchase is in their. $38969 in 1997
