Territory TX drive away prices incl extended warranty?

Apologies if this is a duplicate post - don't know what happened to my first attempt so trying again

I have mostly always he Falcons and Territorys and part of the deal with the CFO was to get something cheaper (but and run) next time around.

Currently looking at a Honda CRV due to some awesome incentives. Kuga with it steel wheels and no reversing camera can't compete on spec or price.

Best Terry quote I have is $39k incl prestige paint, cargo barrier and tow bar.

Keen to know what others have been able to achieve

Also what price extended warranty adds to the deal?

Keen to stay in a Ford but not at any price.

I bought a Diesel Mk 1 TX 3 weeks ago for $37k driveaway.

The only thing I got thrown in was a cargo barrier.

Guzz226, do you need an SUV or do you just need the versatility of a wagon?

If you just need something with space than might be worth holding out for the new Mondeo wagon, assuming you do not have to buy in the next 8 weeks.

Specs look pretty good, even for the base model.

What do you guys mean by a cargo barrier? The fixed vertical metal grille behind the back seat or the horizontal folding cargo cover?

cargo barrier is the metal vertical grill behind the rear seats from roof to floor

Thanks that's what I thought. I asked because it seems an odd thing to throw in for free unless requested by the buyer.

Based on some checking of old "family & friends discount" threads I think I will bide my time and wait for the next time it comes up as I am not in an immediate hurry - if I can score a TX around $33-$34k or even a Titanium for $40k-ish as per the previous threads I will go that way as it is a no brainer for me at least.

Huge safety feature perhaps the most important safety feature a wagon can have.

Absolutely, yes I know, but isn't it a fixture in the Ford? That is, it can't be easily removed or stowed on board when not required - and it can't be used in the 7 seater or when you want to get the second row down as well. That limits the safe cargo capacity in the Territory to what you can get below the cargo cover. (And even the cargo cover can't be stored on board if you want to put up the third row of seats.)

After 10 years of Territory ownership I'd rate the limitations on safe cargo capacity - and the hoops you have to jump through to achieve it (unwieldy, inflexible cargo covers and barriers) - as its biggest achilles heel.

This opens up - flexibly - a whole extra volume of safe cargo storage that the Territory doesn't have.

My biggest issue with the Territory cargo barrier is that it is full height and not 'just' half height ie from the top of the rear seats to the roof, sort of like the BMW net solution.

That way you can drop the rear seats and slide anything rear big and long into the car without having to remove the barrier which is a pain.

Other makes seem to have such an option but I have only ever found the full height one for Territory.

This is what I'm thinking. It's a bit of a two-edged "gift". Yes it's a free extra safety feature - but a very unwieldy and inflexible one. Even a cargo cover would be a more useful freebie. Are these the only "solutions" Ford has for cargo safety across its whole range?

Not sure about other vehicles such as Mondeo or upcoming Everest.
