A couple of months wait for a mass produced car is a silly situation, regardless if the place is being wound up.

Good on 'em.

That or a good tactic to get people buying the first lot quicker.

Is this a regurgitated story, something very similar was reported months ago.

Just remember going from 1 XR8 per day/week to 2 XR8's per day/week makes the story accurate. Hardly Earth shattering demand.

I look forward to actually seeing my first XR8 on the road sometime soon, assuming they're not painted using invisible paint.

I always said that the 'neither confirm/nor deny' the availability of ZF transmissions was a sales ploy by Ford.

Looks like it worked a treat too.

Did anyone consider that similar to gtf the manual transmission has seen considerable increase in popularity? I also wonder how xr6t is faring, perhaps not so many of those are selling?

I can't see zf tooling up to build a limited number of deprecated units, doesn't make much sense and would cost them money.

2000 XR8s is a decent number when you think about it.
It will account for about 20-25% of the FGX production.

GOod job on getting all the extra bits needed to increase the volume.

Cant be too easy with a rundown to finishing production.

There must be a few on this forum here that will be happy to be able to go and buy one of these things.

A comment from the carsales comment section: 'But they don't tell you that they're halving six and four cylinder production?'

Not sure if any truth, but it's a possibility.

So, they telling porkies !! doubling XR8 production by reducing 4 and 6 engine cars? that means, buyers for 4 and 6 engine cars will wait longer!!! Silly!!!

It's not a possibility at all. Do the math, it doesn't add up. Say they're making 83 cars a day, of which 30 are 6 and 4 cyl Falcons. You reckon they've bumped up XR8 production by 15 units a day...?? (I don't know the build mix but you get the idea...).
who ever made that comment has their head up their bum...

Complete rubbish. And how can you halve 4 cylinder production, it barely exists as is

I wouldn't think there is much of a wait on 6 cylinder, so it shouldn't make any difference to waiting times really at all.

"I spoke to kloster ford", that's your issue right there. Every sales person I have spoken to over the years doesn't even know what the product is that they are selling!

My favourite interaction from a few years ago...
Me: Hi, I'm interested in looking at the new Falcon (FG).
Sales person: Well let me help you.
Me: It looks quite different to the outgoing model...
SP: Yes it has new seats, front and rear bumpers and wheels and the best part is the exciting new V6 engine (while pointing to the I6 motor in the open engine bay)!
Me: but that's a straight 6.
SP: no it isn't! It's the new V6 from the USA!
I then ignored whatever babble was coming out of the large hole in his face and had my own look around. Thanked him for his (pointless) help and left.

If you want anything that resembles a car go anywhere other than these jokes.

Mmmmmmmm.........

I worked for Kloster Ford for over ten years as a salesman. I also came first in NSW for product knowledge on the Falcon with me being the only one to have a perfect score.

You obviously never spoke with me.

Neither did any of your fellow staff either apparently.

Seriously though every dealership has a few guys who know bugger all about the product and would rather be drinking coffee with the paint protection wench than learning. I was just looking at an XR8 with a friend recently in NZ and the salesman there was a manger and knew the basics and that was it.

I bought my 09 ranger new from kloster ford over the phone, got a mate to drive me from Sydney to the dealership. When we got there we were asked to wait by the receptionist and the salesmen will be with us shortly. A short time later these two suits walk passed one muttering under his breath to the other about our apparent appearance. Then he asks the receptionist where is Mr Smith? receptionist "he's just over there". He tried to carry on like nothing had happened and said well done Mr Smith and stuck out his hand, but his face was red and he knew full well he had f'd up. Needless to say I've never been back.
