Sitting around a mates place tonight after flying in from work. He had picked us up from the airport and we were having a beer or two waiting for the connecting flight back east.
We hear the Magna that we were picked up in start. I looked at my mate and said is your misses or daughter going some where, as we had ten minutes to get the airport, at which point the penny dropped to the car was getting jacked. We flew out the front and got the passenger door open but he took off too quick to get in there. We lost our bags, licences and laptops/iPads and such in a split second. The amazing thing is we were all but ten metres away, dog sitting next to us and none of us heard any thing until it was too late. Moral of a the story, ensure every thing you own is locked up as it is only a second and it is gone. |

Unlocked and keys near the car in a bag. Lesson learnt though I would say.

More front than Myers some of these thieves, friend of the family was in his driveway and 4 blokes fronted up to him, one with a shotty aimed at his head and demanded his car keys ....... Which he gave to them,
after doing a robbery in the car they set fire to it.. Just goes to show it doesn't matter if you hide your keys or not, if they want it bad enough they will take it. |

Big balls on the thief part, but I guess you presented this bloke with a golden opportunity he could not resist.
Putting up neon signs will attract attention.

By going through the bag I'd say
may have intended to just steal property but when he found keys bingo |

Thieves will target homes and search for car keys and then steal the car as well as property

Sometimes they don't even need YOUR keys, I had a bunch of miscreants take my ute using a key of the same type of ute, it unlocked the door and started it then they drove till it ran out of juice before setting it ablaze. It was a '89 Navara 4x4 s/cab, bloody loved that ute. Darned thieving dogs.

My mate got the car back today. Was found by police dumped and still running against a tree. Smashed front right hand wheel, smashed front bumper, dents in both rear doors and guards and a smashed rear tail light. Was found only a few blocks over from where it was taken so obviously someone local to the area. Weirdest thing is nothing taken from the bag in the back so obviously had to get out of there quickly.
I can't condone theft at all but what a pointless robbery when nothing was taken. Just a big pain in the rear for all involved. |

It's obvious what happened......
once they came out of their drug induced haze, they realised they'd taken a Magna, and couldn't get out of it fast enough.

But the data can't. Was all this stuff recovered? Did anything go missing from the car?

Recently had bags pinched from car. Laptop, set of keys and countless memorabilia gone. Stupid on my part as the area was a thieving hotspot, but sorely tempted to get an old car, bait in the back seat, rig it up as a human mouse trap and watch the thieving dog get roasted alive...

If you make it really easy for a thief, what do you expect?
Car theft seems to be on the increase now. Are people just being more careless now?

We like to encourage intruders at our house. We sleep with a 45kg Bull Arab at our bedroom door, and a 50kg Ridgeback between us on our bed. (We take keys n laptops in the room at nite). They'd want pretty big guns I reckon |

Only reason car theft seems to be on the increase is due to social media. People have stolen car pages, police have Facebook pages etc. So it is more published now than ever before.

You need a few more mate, if a thief can reach your fridge and grab a few pieces of steak, I wouldn't be surprised if your dogs enjoy them as the thief goes about his core business, much harder to feed 6 ;-) |

20 chihuahua's would be better.
same food bill, but you can't kill 20 easily, and they won't stop barking. still probably only weigh 45 kg? in total |

If I knew someone that had 20 Chihuahua's I wouldn't worry about stealing something, but I'd break into their house and leave some money, or a rope purely out of sympathy....ffs one of them is too many. |

Should have been easy to find the magna, just follow the oil until you find it on the side of the road somewhere.
