Current build time for Territory

Just after a bit of info on build times for a newly ordered Territory at the moment from anyone in the know.
We placed an order right at the end of January and were told Factory was at 50% staff level and all new orders would be three months before delivery which is what the basis deal was done around (was also told this time frame from other dealers). Boss Lady received a call today saying it's arrived (in Wa) and ready for pick up less than 5 weeks after placing order.
Hoping the dealer isn't trying to palm off a earlier build date.
Any info much appreciated guys!

I would email the dealer and get them to confirm the vehicles details by sending you a pic of the compliance plate.

As long as its the colour/spec you ordered and a 2016 plate then just take it... If its a 2015 plate tell them to jam it...

Go down and look at the thing to confirm...

So I've discovered after placing an order for a April/May compliance plate vehicle
( this is what the deal was done around) the dealer is trying to supply me with a January plate. No thanks.

I'm not quoting first hand but the info is relevant.

Depending on what specs you have ordered you run the risk of not getting a car at all if you want a "fresh" one directly from the factory.

It has been mentioned a number of times from people in these forums that should know that the longer that you left it to order one the less chance that there was of getting the exact car you wanted.

In other words, it is not a question of build times, it is a question of whether Ford will build or not.

This schedules are locked in for closure, so if you want a Territory and you're offered a 2016 build, I'd take it.

There is a finite schedule for each spec / option.

Maybe you can explain why it is so important to have a particular build month, it still will be 2016 and there are not going to be any spec changes. At least the car hasn't been sitting around for very long.

The dealer most likely thought they had done you great service getting the car sooner.

Unless its been used as a demo, shouldn't you be happy?

My thinking is that its all about resale value.

The later territory will be one of the last built in Aus. Later on when the OP wants to sell the car he can put, one of the last built Territories in Aus. Which then I would assume he would be asking for for the car since it was one of the last built in Aus.

Then again I could be wrong, we need to wait for the answer.

I just wonder how many people would have the same thinking and will miss out on a car.

Are you serious ? Are you suggesting that in a few years time, a Jan 2016 Territory will have a lower resale value than an April/May 2016 one of the same spec ?

I would have thought that in years to come the only valuable Territory would be the very last one.

If you go back in time to say 1983, last of the V8 XEs. Are you suggesting that a May 83 example would be worth less than an August one ?

Build time is too long. I know they are being built to order but who is going to wait 3 months?? When other suv's are available within 2 weeks ????

Urghhhh

You can get one today if you want one, you just have to be flexible about colour etc.

Just like you if you want a particular imported model and a dealer doesn't have it in the colour you want you will have to wait 3 months.

Ford has a decent Territory order book, so I wouldn't be fussy if I wanted one.

There's plenty of Territory's in the dealer yards I go past, I'm betting anyone could have any combo they wanted tomorrow if they looked hard enough.

As I said I could be wrong it's me guessing why the op doesn't want a car Built in January 2016.

If you look at post 6 the ops States an earlier build will affect the resale value of the car.

So yes I am guessing the op thinks that a later built Territory will be worth more than a January model due to post 6 talking about resale value. But the op will need to confirm this as it is a guess.

I can understand the resale value of the 2016 compared to a 2105 plated car, but I can't see any resale value difference in a April 2016 over a Jan 2016, especially in a few years time.

the only time the month comes into it is when there may have been an update. hence the reason you see my/whatever in ad's these days, i.e build is a 15 but my16. other than that dealers trading a car will just look at it as a 2016 and how many k's and what condition.

Clearly understood (I am a dealer BTW), but it has already been established that there have been no 'updates' between Jan 2016 & now, which is why I can't see the problem.

For the OP it maybe simply that he was advised a April/May delivery which may align to getting finances sorted.

That's a different story then, make the dealer wait. If the deal was 'done' based on an April/May delivery date & as long as the car is plated 2016 in the desired colour & trim etc. there is no issue.
