Ok, title say it all.

Need a couple of new batteries.

I used to like using RAC Batteries.
The price was reasonable, the service was good, and it was no hassle. They came out, installed the new battery, took the old one away, and they kept a record so I didn't have to bother about keeping dates and receipts. Never had a problem.
Last battery we got from them was sold as a "premium" and it was rubbish. What's worse they wouldn't honour their warranty, and their customer service was beyond ****.

So should I just go to SCA etc?

If so, what brand should I buy?

Find out whats needs for your car, CCA and find appropiate.

Century are good.
SSB are good
Supercharge good
Exide no issues
Optima really good but really expensive

AL Delco had issues myself and family member with collapsing cells. Avoid i say.

Century, blue and yellow case means Australian made.

G'day.. Can't comment on many other brands but I can say Century are pretty good..No issues at all over a few years ..I have one in each of my chariots and are a fair price too Cheapo brands I'd steer clear of for a car battery...Cheers Rod...

I have had Supercharge batteries, had an OK run. They consistently seem to work fine until about 3-6 months out of warranty then they have all died pretty quickly.

I had the factory yuasa in my boat and a 650cca bosch fitted with the dual battery kit. The bosch held its charge much longer and failed only after 11 years. I now have 2 730cca batteries in the back.. car wise I have had no problems with the supercharge 660cca's. I put one in my 08 ghia in 2010 and its still good. I put another in the wifes 2012 g6 back in 2015 and also it is still good. I got the one in my ghia from k mart of all places. They were the only place open at 8 pm who happened to sell car batteries without servo prices. Lucky I knew what I was looking for, as none of the 16 year old staff were any help. I paid $120 something. When I got the one for the g6 I went to a battery shop and it cost $156. The staff however were quite helpful. If they weren't so expensive I'd like to have bought fibreglass matt batteries for all.

Normally the car part stores have deals going all the time so you can get them for a decent price.

Had supercharge and it started to die at 3 years (hell ive got more life out of motorcraft batteries).

So this time ive gone Century so will see how it goes. Paid the same price as the supercharge (both on special).

If its for your Territory Daz fir the MF50 supercharge, cheaper more powerful same size. win win.

Whatever you get Daz, imo make sure it can be serviced ie don't get a sealed battery. You will nearly double your battery's life if checked & serviced every year. Good luck!

i had a second hand Delkor in my boat for 10 years, charged after winter and it lasted the summer, best battery ever
but go for the biggest CCA you can fit in the car

I bought an Optima from 4WD Extreme on EBay. Best price and overnight Adelaide to Sydney. But I had to put it in myself, lol.

The territory I have is hard in batteries, would start to play up with top shelf century batteries by the end of warranty. I have now put in a silver calcium Delkor and it has so far been excellent, requiring less top up charges due to short runs the wife does. It also has higher cca than the century and was $40 bucks dearer. On another forum it was mentioned that the smart alternators in modern fords are designed for at least calcium or silver calcium batteries which they dont fit from factory. What car is the battery for.

I upgraded my Territory to a Delkor from R&J Batteries- depots in Victoria.
At the time it had the most CCA etc that would fit in the normal space.
For the other SUV a Range Rover Sport (a Ford product at the time) I upgraded to a Supercharge Battery 900 CCA which was recommended by many. Got it at at good price from Centre Rd Batteries- Clayton.
Both vehicles have the same issues of not having a big enough battery from new. They both have electric drain when switched off to run the behind the scenes stuff. They both draw lots of current to turn over the starter to the detriment of other programs if the battery is holding less than 500 CCA.

Another thumbs up for Delkor. 6 yrs in wifes Swift from new, century (yellow) 2.5 yrs. Supercharge now as couldn't get a Delkor quick enough.
Delkor are maybe made in Korea though...

Possibly a German make, but I guess could have come from anywhere in Europe.

9 years old, and only just starting to go.

NB: Need two, the XR4, and the Tezza Turbo

Am I wrong in thinking I DON'T want a straight Calcium/ Calcium battery?
Don't handle the heat or cycling well?

So which is better? A Silver/ Calcium?
Or Century's "hybrid" Antinomy/ Calcium?

If its a Falcon/Territory then they take a Century 67EF which is their UHP range, 36 month warranty and about 620 CCA or there abouts I think.

Made in Brisbane, its good stuff.

Out of curiosity what are you guys paying for your batteries, those who have commented here, what cars, what batteries and how much spondoolies?

Lots of german cars use Varta batteries for OEM fitment.

I have been using exides made by GNC in Elizabeth south Australia for many years, I was buying factory direct
Sadly they are now moving overseas and the RAA battery switched from being locally sourced to made in Korea and they are crapola now

Don't buy from auto parts stores, try an independent supplier like batteries direct or independent batteries that we have in sa.

You should have companies like these in your state
Current battery from GNC was 110 for 550cca for the au xr sedan

I am leaning towards Century's "Ultra Hi Performance" which is a hybrid Antinomy/ Calcium.

I had one of those. Make sure to check the water levels regularly. Had mine on a maintenance charger and it only lasted 2 of the 3 year warranty. Minimal driving but the water all evaporated due to charging and the battery ended up no good.

Where are the motorcraft ones made? I have also ran genuine motorcraft, My current one has 620CCA. Never had a real problem with them and all have lasted well over 4 years. What life expectancy are people with these other batteries getting?

What's the deal with so-called "Maintenance Free" batteries that appear to have no access whatsoever?

I'm used to seeing batteries that are tightly sealed, or often have an extra cover to be removed.
However the existing battery is a "platinum 2000" from IBD. It has events, but apparently no access to check the water.

Kind of defeats the purpose of "Maintenance Free" if you going to have access to the electrolyte, you will have to trust the battery to survive its service life.
