Default Mustangs now becoming Common

Drove to Sydney yesterday from Newcastle. On drive down M1 passed 2 new Mustangs.

Driving back approaching Hornsby, on opposite side passed 2 red Mustangs,

Then on M1 back to Newcastle passed a further new Mustang, who then promptly accelerated and sat on my tail in heavy traffic for 50 km.

Did not see one other FGX XR8 on the drive. What I did have on the trip down through North Sydney was a Turbo FG 11 XR6 ripping in a gap in my front and trying to get me to partake in knobbery, and then I was sandwiched to the rear by a white Ferrari who appeared keen to share induction and exhaust comparisons with my car.

Yes, I have to say I've seen quite a few running around the Gold Coast. When I was at Robina Hospital yesterday to see if there was any part of my body worth salvaging, there was a dirty (needed washing) black one in the carpark.

I've seen 2 in Melbourne recently.

Pity about the 2 star safety rating though.

Seeing heaps too at the moment. Not sure if they're common or because I'm aware of them and keeping a lookout at the moment. Noticing alot of the drivers don't fit my perception of your average petrol head, more using them as a fashion accessory. Just my take on it.

Yeah, there's a lot on the coast. I was at the cruise at Tuckers diner last nite and there was a body kitted late stang there, looked pretty nice. There's a Red one that's often at a workshop in Southport too which looks tuff. Interestingly the one at tuckers didn't get a lot of attention, which probably makes sense since most are there for the old Skool gear, which prob includes me,but I still like the look. I think people are now used to seeing them everywhere now.
Theres been one in the Oasis shopping centre for ages as a prize for a raffle,I've had a good look at it and it's definitely nice for a mass produced car,but the name obviously still sells ,for how long will be another question I guess.

They were like the Toyota 86/BRZ when they 1st came out. Looked awesome initially, soon every 2nd person and their dog will have one. Now don't even look twice.

Was like when I 1st went to US - saw Mustang's and Camaro's and was so wowed, but after 2 days went - "meh.."

I'd forgotten about Tuckers - is it on every Friday?

Tuckers is the last Friday of every month. Masters at Coomerah is on the second Saturday of every month. Last masters I went to was huge, over 200 cars easily and real top level machines galore. Tuckers was good last nite, but about 50 cars at a rough guess, cold weather probably keeps numbers down. Some nice cars there, good nite for sure and no Wally's.

Sounds like a good day behind the wheel.

Probably a mistake purchase if owners don't like them becoming common. Desirability is going to stay strong I reckon. The 2nd hand market is going to be those who can't afford new, Ford loyalists ( & GM, for lack of choice), Superannuation receivers, today's kids (in a few years, fans, and cashed up from 1st job), GT3 Racers stripping out the 2 star safety gear to race against wealthy Euro GT3's and even appeal to others who not long ago, only had affordable coupes like the BRZ/86 available.

They're everywhere here in Perth... mostly 5.0's with the occasional Ecoboost model... nearly all the V8 guys have aftermarket exhausts aswell.

They like pulling up next to me and showing off, then I pick up 2nd and they get to hear the same motor with a blower.

G'day ...Can honestly say this...In the past couple of months I have seen one FGX XR8 and at Targa on Monday a XR6 FGX...I've seen about five Mustangs in that time..
Whilst on rare or low numbers or common in this case , what is it with 300 in Aussie motoring...There were only 300 genuine GTHO's supposedly , there was a $300 difference between the GTHO and the GT...then there were only 300 genuine XC Cobra's built and now Holden are going out with a limited run of 300 GTSR W1.....Go figure....Cheers Rod....

583 2015-2017 Mustangs for sale on Carsales.
Prices are starting to come down too.
$42500 for a manual Ecoboost.
$57000 for manual GT.
Will wait twelve months when a GT will be about 45k, once update has come out.

Hey Bent8 not quite the same motor with blower, given the forged bottom end, low compression pistons etc. But I like where you are coming from and relate to what you say, plenty cars can match the Miami in 1st, but second with full power

All you need is one less litre of capacity and add a turbo....Barra all the way

If I ever picked up a late Mustang my money would be in the Ecoboost, lots of potential there.

Wow,so simple and uncluttered
To each their own but like my V8s N/A and with old Skool torque. Turbo for a Barra or Ecoboost is a winner ,less clutter and easier to work with in modern cars, just my preference.

900+HP and proven 8.50's down the 1/4
That's not clutter !! It's a work of art and wrapped in that beautiful mustang body makes it deadly good.

They are a work of art until you have to work on them....900hp better have some serious bottom end. Personally, all that plumbing and a huge V8 for just 5 litres of capacity I'd want more power than 900, that's achieved with a Barra 6 these days . That 5.0 Windsor on the site will grenade the stock block at 450...The modern 4.6, 5.0 engines seem to like the boost to get them motivated but what doesn't. I'd imagine stockies could do 900 with boost and stay together, but the alloy blocks might eventually get pretty shaky and possibly head gaskets, throw in a bad tune and torch a few stock pi$ton$$$...Plenty of Barra engines making at least that power with stock blocks and heads. Brad Girdwood at Atomic makes some decent stuff from all reports. But hey,it's everyone's choice.

I hired one and drove around Oahu. Drove pretty well, would love to drive the V8 though
