Default Weekly Race 4 Real Report: May 24, 2017

Wednesday night Race 4 Real off-street meets continue to be one of the most popular events on the Sydney Dragway calendar and it’s quite easy to see why!

Here are some great performances from last week’s Race 4 Real at Sydney Dragway.

Top Holden of the Week

There’s not much else out there more menacing than the front end of this VT Commodore. With a best time of 11.40 @ 120.98 MPH, you wouldn’t want to catch this beast in your rear-view.

Top Japanese of the Week

One of the more criminally overlooked cars to come out of the Group A golden age of rally is the Mazda Familia GTX. Featuring by a turbo 1.8L with power sent to all four wheels, this unassuming little hot hatch is an absolute riot. Looking forward to seeing more of this rare piece of rally history here at Sydney Dragway!

Top European of the Week

These fire-breathing Mercs are really starting to take over here at Race 4 Real! This immaculate silver A45 AMG managed an impressive best run of 11.90 @ 113.67 MPH down the quarter mile.

Top Rotary of the Week

Straying away from the usual RX-3 recipe of candy paint and big wheels, this example took a more subtle approach, sporting its factory yellow paintjob. Not much else about it was factory however as you can probably tell by the need for a parachute and wheelie bar – and a best pass of 10.71 @ 125.04 MPH, of course.

Top Ford of the Week

This XY Falcon GT looked the goods and was an absolute beast, roaring down the quarter mile to a best time of 10.27 @ 134.63 MPH.

Commentators Pick of the Week

Not often do we see classic Minis running here at our Race 4 Real events so it was great to see this beautiful light blue example. With a best run of 14.65 @ 90.87 MPH, this Mini reminded everyone of the giant-killer status that these cult cars have earned.

Race 4 Real is on every Wednesday night at Sydney Dragway, weather permitting. Keep it safe, legal and off the streets! Gates open at 4:30PM and racing starts at 6:00PM. Check our website for T&C’s and entry information.

Stay tuned for our coverage of the next Race 4 Real event on May 31!
