Gran turismo 5, made by Sonys own Polyphony Digital, to be released on PS3, the king is back...
Gran Turismo 1,2,3,4 were and are still unmatched in the Simulation Genre so this will be probably the biggest PS3 release ever. Ill sell my xbox360 to buy this game. * these are taken from the Prologue, the Final version of GT5 will ofcource be improved, and look better * Also remember, it takes Polyphony 180 Days To Create a Car in Gran turismo 5,so no one complain about Delays lol. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jmmh9BT7iok ^ check this, lil example of whats to come, taken from Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, first in-car footage! Since Gran turismo 4 on ps2 had both FPV GT and Typhoon and every car in Gran Tuismo 5 will have realistic Dashboards, I HOPE they carry both FPV Cars to GT5, i want to drive the GT with the in car view + steering Wheels & Pedals. :evil3: Some Pictures. Some In-Car Images I cant wait, thoughts? Oh and The prologue is Comming October :evil3: + my Gran turismo 4 Photomode thread i made awhile back. http://fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=75216&page=1 |

Hopefully they have XR6T & XR8's in it this time.
I woul love to do up a Black BA/Bf XR8 to look like mine (And go maybe a little better...) Cannot wait for GT5, GT4 & GT3 were the best games on PS2 so i have very big expectations for GT5. |

Maybe this time they'll make the FPV GT and other V8s actually sound like V8s, but I highly doubt it. The GTHD demo I have on the PS3 at the moment sounds crap. Everything sounds like a higher or lower octave of an Honda S2000 recording. Not impressed with the bumper car physics that still exist either... Having said that i'll probably still get it seeing I have every other GT game. Also after playing GTR2 with no driver aids in the wet with my Logitech G25 it's hard to go back to anything like the GT series that have driving physics like that out of the Daytona arcade machine.

Man it sucked when you put a racing exhaust on a old Camaro, how it sounded like a GTR. Speaking of GTRs, I really hope they tone down on the different variations. They all perform they same anyway. How many R34 GTRs did they really need in GT4? They could've used that precious space for other cars that have yet to grace the GT series. |

the FPV GT sounded real to me in GT4, the rumble was there and everything, depends on your camera view and the volume you play the game at, Polyphony recorded engine, exhaust etc etc from both FPV cars and used it in the game, i have the GTHD Demo to, thats nothing more than a tiny Gran turismo 4 test with HD Visuals + that Ferrari, IMO they used it to experiment with the PS3 hardware. Thats why its Free and only 700mb.
Im assuming GT5 to be maybe 40GB with all the data they are throwing In. |

The other Two Exhaust upgrades sound nice with the FPV GT , doesnt have that racing simulated sound, makes the car sound more aggressive.

Well to me the only V8 exhaust that sounded remotely V8ish was the Glenn Seton FPR car and the Mustang GT350...

Lol Tru, oh well , i think the main challenge in making Gran turismo is the amount of time it takes to create a car, in Gran Turismo 1 it took 1 person 1 day, Gran turismo 3 took 30days for 1 car, Gran turismo 5 is taking 180 per car per person, i think that was the main priority and not the sound, i would rather have a realistic looking car, then a bodgy lookin car with accurate sounds.

The cockpit view looks good but the physics looked absolutely woeful, coupled with no damage...! Hopefully that's arcade mode.

I think with the way things are going at the moment, the PS2 will be dead by the end of the year. Certainly next year at the most.
The last significant game I can remember for the PS2, was Scarface. Although NFS: Pro Street is coming out, I think the PS2's days are coming to a close. |

Having no damage does not phase me at all. But what erks me is when people use other cars (or walls) as an aid to get around a corner. Or when they completely straight line a chicane (get airborne) and there is no penalty...grrr
Other than that it looks sweet. My only issue now is saving for a HDTV and a PS3 and the game...hmm That only equates to at least $2500 or so..LOL

Imagine doing a huge enduro, and then on the last couple of laps you have a lose and write off your car. What then? Yes its realistic that you would then lose but stuff that. What people seem to forget is that it is a game. If it was completely realistic then it would be pointless. edit: GT4 actually does have a penalty system but I think its in a license test or similar. Also, if there is anymore than 10 of the one type of skyline Ill go insane.

I played Forza Motorsport 2 on my brothers XBOX 360 and I could not believe how accurate the handling dynamics were, especially between RWD, FWD and AWD. The adjustability via the throttle and brakes was extremely impressive. I though GT4 was pretty good in that regard but Forza took that to a whole new level, one which GT5 I hope will match.

I bought Forza Motorsport 2 on Monday and have been playing it constantly all last week (on holiday hehe) and I must say it is damn realistic. Some of the hipo cars are extremely hard to control and quite funny to see a less powerful fartcan do better laptimes than an a hugely powerful extreme-modded jobbie.
From what I've read GT5 doesn't even come close to the level of realism that Forza Motorsport 2 has. I read an article today where they compared Forza Motorsport 2 to the real world counterparts. They took a gamer and a real race driver and let them loose on both the game and the track... in identical real world and virtual world cars the race driver was able to replicate his lap times in both. In one test they used a Lotus Exige ( I think ) and the race driver strangely enough did better lap times on the track in real life. At first they thought it was because the sim was wrong but it later turns out that in FM2 they've modelled the Lotus Exige on the less powerful UK version and the race driver had been using the more powerful US version on the real track. I also read a while ago that during the initial pre-release phases of FM2 they let a bunch of well-known race drivers onto a track with the same cars they used in real life and again weren't able to match their lap times... until they realise they'd turned off traction control in game and these particular drivers used traction control in their competitions.

I hated the physics in GT4. Very unrealistic. Lets hope #5 is better.
