Those 250 Cortinas used to go hard, they were the sleeper of the 70s'.

VH Valiant Pacer sedan, with 265 and 3 speed manual. Mind you, the things did move out in each of the 3 gears.

Another car that used to go hard was a Chrysler Centura with a 265 Hemi engine.
Another car (don't laugh) was a Mitusbishi Magna V6. I had a TR 3 litre V6 and later on I brought a TJ 3.5 litre V6 both went like bullet. In a motor magazine April 1999 it says that "The Sports Magna V6 equals the HSV XU8 400 metre sprint time. Another car was a plain XY Falcon with the K-Code which is a Falcon a non GT fitted with a 351 Cleveland V8 with a two barrel carburettor. The engine could be paired with either an automatic or manual transmission. |

My 2nd car. Blue, non vinyl roof. Some clown ran a red light turning right and I cleaned him up and wrote it off. One elderly owner, low mileage in about 93. I wish I had that car for a lot longer. If I'd had more experience on the road, that beauty could still be with us today.

Ford did the turbo 4 cylinder with AWD in a small car but it didn't sell that many
Subaru repeated the same formula only a few years after Ford and the WRX became a cult car.

My old man had one back in the day, it was built and tuned by some guy in Newcastle who used to use them in sprint cars. Triple Webers in all their glory!
