Default 2020 Car Colour Trends

https://www.caradvice.com.au/823198/car-colours-2020/

"With Pantone naming 'classic blue' its colour of the year for 2020, the automotive industry has followed suit."

I really like some of the new deep blue's appearing on cars at the moment, BMW San Marino Blue and Audi's Navarra Blue being just two.

No surprise to see White is still the most popular colour.

Blue is my second favourite car colour after black.
I've never owned white and hopefully never will. Too boring for me, I'd go silver if I wanted a basic colour.

Looks like a change back to brights again.
Ford had many colours back in the 70's .... and then back through B-series there were a number of them ... but it has paled off considerably again.

Looking recently at the Kia Stinger range ... they have a range of decent bright colours at least now .... but most of everything else you see is the greys/silvers/whites, etc.

Although .... I do like a decent charcoal with metallic through it .... much nicer than a silver (thats near impossible to see on a rainy day).

Have had many a white Ford ... and I like them ... with the right dark accenting.

The biggest change I am seeing with the newer models is how many are wearing very base-tinted type colours..... Not sure how to describe it so hopefully got that right.
They are not quite matte, and the opposite end to the metallics we know, they look to me like the mix is base heavy and the tone becomes matte-ish.

I've seen this effect on BMWs and maybe Audis too.

FOund these with a quick look

EDIT - My god, these images are huge! Any way to shrink for the forum page?
I hope I've explained what I'm trying to point out :-)
Like a cross between matte and pastel maybe

That BM I would call undercoat grey and there seems to be a few brands with this colour or variations of over the last few years. IMHO Is it possible the "mattes" you have seen are actually wraps rather than factory colours? Or are they Pearls which sometimes look mattish too.

What's wrong with white, just needs some highlights.

Almost certain they were not wraps.
Stereotyping, but the drivers did not look like owners that modify cars (or even know what a wrap is). Standard new models.

I feel I've seen even newish Kia/Hyundai models with this look.

When I get more time I will attempt to find a better image to post

Battleship grey, then cover it in DLR's so everyone can see it. Dunno.

Love BRG. Good to see it making a comeback. Loved it on the rebuilt HX panel van back in 1987 paint wasn't rubbed back in this pic.

My sister bought a Mazda 3 last year in Polymetal Grey.

It's not a colour I would have chosen but when I viewed in the metal and freshly detailed it has grown on me. I love that it is something a little different in the sea standard whites, silvers and blacks.

I like some accents on darker cars ... like some of the Renaults do.
But that is way over the top on the Honda and makes it look tacky (it already looks tacky with all the wing bits all over it.) ... Same with the white wheels. Doesn't suit it.

There's a time and place for white wheels .... just not on that.

I like the design of these (except rear visibility would be shock in it) .... and the sedan is pretty decent looking as well.

But the Soul Crystal Red is a much nicer colour in these.

It does glow in the sun.

Just don't get a stone chip or scratch it, cause Mazda does not sell touch up paint due to it being a 3 stage paint process, and it's apparently an absolute nightmare to fix.

One of the reasons I chose white for my Mazda 2 albeit Pearl white, however the same applies for my Orange Fury Mustang as it's a triple coat and water based and my panel beater couldn't supply touch up as he says you have to add an additive to make it go off and it only lasts for a day or so.
Geez life is much harder than it used to be with todays modern cars ....lol

I'll solve that with some JDM decals.
