Wheel Size site says there were 17 x 7.5 ET42 alloys on BA Falcons. Every set I look at are 17 x 8. Do these 7.5 width rims actually exist?

Yes i believe so. More likely to be fitted on Ghia's and non-XR models that had 17's.
Those models usually had 225 wide tyres, and not the 245's the XR's used. So they had a smaller rim to match. |

My factory 17 rim says 17X8J36.5 on it and i have 235/45/r17 tyre.
Guessing you are trying to get 7.5 to get a dished rim or something? |

Ok i think I get it now.
So we know BA XR6 rims aren't the 7.5 size. So we could only consider other factory 17s on the BA. e.g. (Fairmont, Fairmont Ghia, SR and Futura) Also slightly unrelated appears to be a Terry rim of that size that existed on SZ Terry's https://www.jeffersonfordparts.com.a...assembly~14169 |

Wow. I had always assumed they were 7.5s. My pov pack 5.4L 3v XT came with the factory 17" rims, I have one spare in the boot, and just checked and its 8 width.

are these tyres you already have?
Im not expert on Falcon wheels but I believe a factory XR6 17" alloy takes a 235/45R17 the factory steelies were 16" which took a 215 tyre

His current BF XR6 has 8" wide rims. But standard fitment is 235/45, not 245... 225/50 are rather expensive rubber given their odd size. But I run 235/45 on my Ghia rims without hassle. |

That size tyre works well on 17x7.5 wheels, I ran them on my trailer.
Just use Territory alloys (17x7.5 ET36.5mm) they fit Falcons, although a bit heavier (i.e. stronger). Much easier to find than Falcon wheels that size. PS. Dont believe everything you read on Wheel Size. Im sceptical any Falcon alloy was ever ET42.
