Default Rent vehicle options after purchasing your car.

Audi have detailed a new option to rent or purchase vehicle upgrades as you need them or desire to upgrade your car.
Article details how some models will have a downloaded update that will give you auto full beam headlights for a month if you wish to trial the upgrade or pay an amount for a lifetime upgrade.
I read another article that makers may include horsepower upgrades that are an option at time of purchase or other features that are fitted but not available until you pay for the licence to use that feature.
The user will download an app that will apply the download to the vehicle as each option is purchased.
Guess if you change your cars often then it might save some money putting in the upgrades when you want them and letting them all run out at time of sale.
Going to be another way of making money from the buyer after the purchase of the car.

Automotive equivalent of in-app purchases
Like you say, another way to get you to pay

Opens up an entire new market to hack. They must be very confident of the software security to put this out there.

Tesla do this.

Would make buying a second hand car interesting. Test drive it with some features enabled and loose them when it get sold
