Has anyone experienced the following issue. last week after a short run on returning home noticed blue smoke coming from around left hand side rear wheel. You could not touch the rim. I thought it must be the brake still on but the car rolled freely. It has all new brakes and cylinders fitted. The bearings are also new. The only thing that has changed is I recently had the hand brake adjusted because it was not working. I suspect the hand brake had not fully released on the left hand side. As you are probably aware it is a foot operated hand brake with cables running to the rear. I was told that the right hand side cable is shorter that the left hand side. This can cause the left hand side not to fully release. |

hi
Drum assuming .?? When doing brake overhaul have the linnings radius ground to drum backing plate wear pads ,,are they worn =weld up then use smear white zinc grease handbrake adjuster backed off all the way adjust linnings to very slight drag can be felt adjust hand brake If hand brake cables might be faulty seizing causing high cable drag . Check when fully disconnected with another operating while another inspects |

hi
What is "all new brakes and cylinders "??? Are they PBR rear cast calipers . They have 1xR clip per caliper and 1x U clip fitted per caliper . 1x large spring fitted to handbrake arm . PBR logo is usually cast on body . These calipers have specific over haul techniques . There is specific ways to operate also to prevent seizure . Last edited by swamp; 07-12-2024 at 12:20 PM. |
