Default Ranger Transmission reliability

A mates family owned a Auto Club service depot in the country up until a few months ago.
We were talking about vehicle reliability and he told me they did analysis on the vehicles the Depot towed from breakdowns.
He told me on their analysis the vehicle they towed the most was the Ranger.
The main issue was transmission related and the vehicles were not very old or with high kilometres.

My father's 2014 PX XLT 3.2 needed a new transmission at 60,000 km's, that was the 6-speed auto.

I will say though, Ranger has been the number one or two seller in the country for a while now, so that's going to skew the numbers a bit.

Out of 4 Rangers owned since 2012, I've had one manual transmission fail in a 2015 model with 30000km on the clock.

When Rangers were first released, it was renowned they had transmission issues with the 6 speed auto, later years models seemed to have improved in reliability.

Have done 100’s of thousands of flawless KM in Fords German Built ZF’S, over many FG’s. If Ford gave the option of a German ZF auto for say $1-2k premium in ranger/everest, would gladly pay it, never going to happen though. They had something great with Toyota like reliability

We've done three 6sp auto boxes in our company PX Ranger in 150,000km, its a series 1 but its also close to or over GVM and the shitbox 2.2L so everyone flogs the *** off it, primarily suburban driving. We've cooked the oil a couple times towing heavy in and out of forests and that sort of thing.

Realistically we should have a Jappo truck.

.... Or the new Ranger Super Duty, wonder if its going to have an Allison auto (Allison 1000) instead of the CCP ZF.

Chinese made valve chests were found to contain porosity defects that caused issues in the 6R80s.
Also heard rumours that the same thing happened with early 10Rs but not sure if that was the actual cause
with Ranger gearbox problems…
