Default A Short Rant

I sit here, at 9:28 on a Tuesday morning. The glare of the rising sun is coming straight through a crack of the blinds in to my eyes. The air con is far too cold. My head hurts, I haven’t eaten breakfast and the only coffee here is International Roast. But as if things couldn’t get worse…

From across the room emanates the sound of pan pipes, crazy drum beats, instruments with names starting with “Z” that I can’t pronounce and the odd tribal shout.

WORLD MUSIC!

And on and on it goes, always threatening to turn in to a tune, but then repeating the same 40 high pitched notes again and again. Occasionally laid over an electronic drumbeat.

World music has its place, sure… In Marrakech brothels, cheap furniture shops and … tribal villages. But not in my office at 9:33am. And certainly not without coffee.

What, may I ask, is the source of this music? Does this 'source' have an off switch?... or perhaps you half an orchestra, scottich tattoo, and tribal hippy band in your house?

The strains of ye-olde-funky-samba-pan-pipes-beatbox-raga-jazz is emanating from the computer of a cow-orker (intentional misplacing of the hyphen). I'm thinking of nipping down to the car grabbing my Spiderbait - Black Betty EP... My speakers are bigger than hers and she should never, EVER forget it!

You should try working at a certain Ford workshop in Melbourne where you get blasted by Dribble M all day.

I know exactly what your talking about. One of the guys in my office worked the public holiday yesterday and when he went home he left his computer locked but playing some bizarre dance music webradio station really really loudly. After 20mins of watching other people try and turn it off (including one guy who said he could "Hack" Tom's computer to get it to stop) i cracked it and walked over and pulled the power plug to the PC. One of the office peons then had the gall to ask "What if he didnt save his files when he locked it, you just made him lose all his work". And this is my problem how?

It clearly is, and should be outlawed by the Geneva convention. I know of someone who refers to it as "Burnt Truck", which I think is a flattering discription of the taste!

Music wars on FordForum.com.au, what next?

Looking at the cup I made this morning, there's a nasty bluish sheen over the top, as though it's been seasoned with a dollop of GTX2. Hmmm

I'd rather not. I usually listen to talkback SEN116 the 24 hour sports network but unfortunately my stereo at work is dumb and I have to listen to FM, so dribble J it is.

My wife use to work with a guy who played Trance, up loud, in an office supplies warehouse. It drove everybody mad, to the point of fairly heavy abuse being used, in his direction.

To each their own I say, but if there are other people around that's just plain ignorant.

right, this is serious now.

I suggest you splice a 240v plug to a network cable. Plug in the power point side and leave the network side unplugged at the back of his/her machine. Remove the existing cable altogether.

Shouldnt take long for them to realise they have no network connection. Then just sit back and enjoy the fireworks. :monkes:
