Just thought that I would tell everybody that the above TV is what we ended up getting. Unfortunately we are having problems with it. First purchased it last Wednesday 15/06/2005. We were watching the state of origin and during the match it happened about 3 times where it went off for a second came back. When it came on in the top right hand corner it came up (Component 2) then (L+R). Originally we thought it was the reception from the footy. The next night was watching the TV and it did the same thing. Rang the shop on Friday and advised them what had happened and they replaced the TV on Saturday. When the delivery guys turned up on Saturday with the replacement and to take the old one away the guy pick up the wrong power cable with the TV and dragged our DVD player of the cabinet onto the ground. So as you can guess set up the TV and it started doing the same thing. Went to watch a DVD and its not working. On sunday went down to the shop and told them everything that had happened. The mamager said I would have to take the broken DVD issue up with the delivery men. And they would take the TV set it up in the Shop to hopefully replicate the problem at home (Forgot to mention that this TV turned up with scratches on the bottom front panel).
Now today rang the store and they are unable to replicate the problem so they are returning the television tommorrow. When I mentioned the scratches they have said they cannot recall me telling them of Sunday. So I guess my question is for the people out there is have you encounted this problem before? We are using it with a HD set top box as well but that is not flickering at all when the TV goes off... |

Haven't encountered the problem before, but the Store wouldn't have happened to be Betta or Harvies was it?

Could it actually be the set top box itself, that is causing the problems. Sometimes our STB will cut out for a second or two, (i.e. the reception will drop out momentarily).
Maybe the STB is dropping the signal a bit? Does it occur when the video player is hooked up? Have you tried it on regular reception? It would probably be a good idea to try these first, considering that the shop could not find (or admit) the problem. |

When you've haven't got a clean signal, LGs will show the channel (Component 2) and "L+R" to say it has picked up the siganl with stereo sound. Everytime your signal dropps out momentarily, and the TV picks up the signal, it will display this to tell you it found a stereo signal (L + R = left and right sound).
Try getting better reception on your STB. Also, there *might* be a menu setting somewhere to turn off this message everytime the signal is interupted. My olds have an LG and they get the same messages. (I've never looked into turning it off if possible).

I have a same type of TV. Had it for over a year now with no problems. I have recently got a STB and occassional the signal drops for a second or two like other people have said, I just put it down to the crapping receiption I get at home. Good luck with getting it sorted out.

No, I tend to agree with the others, your STB os just dropping out due to poor reception. Unlike analogue TV, where if the signal is weak you will get a hazy picture, a set toop box will infact drop right out. I guess what I am trying to say is there is no inbetween with a STB.
