If it's a statutory write off, then I wouldn't be paying that much for it, to not be able to drive it anywhere. It's a pretty expensive promotional vehicle.

If you think about it, it's a lot of money to pay to have it just sit around looking nice.
And don't most places like WSID want proof of rego/roadworthy before you can race?

I would actually think the parts would be worth more so I'm at a loss as to why they bothered.
It also may have been reshelled .. but I thought after jumping through a lot of hoops you could get them registered

This cars is at McAurthur Plus Parts in Narellen. I went the to get some bits for the AU & it was out the front, it has been in a bingle, both airbags have been deployed. When i saw it, it looked like it does now. Yeah i say statutory write off, he's asking too much for it, would make great track car.

if anyones looking for a'cheap' BA XR8 ute, there was one advertised in the canberra times this week for $23k negotiable, I've heard its in good nick, no bingles but high kms. seems like a better deal than one that can't be registered.

This car would be... but its coming from partsgroup which are autowreckers to start with. Obviously an in-house project as it has cross colour matching panels and a GT front bar.

Why shouldn't it be allowed to be sold? They are saying that it is an 'ex accident' car, they are saying that it cannot be re-registered. They are saying that it would only suit race or promotions..... Why not sell it?

$12000 would be reasonable if you wanted to transplant bits and pieces to another car, say if you had a BA ute and wanted to make a mock up Pursuit.
For 20 large, no way.

Cheers, Danny
