Hey, since the tv shows i normally watch have come to a rest for a short while, im after "Obtaining" some car tv shows. Now i was into pimp my ride, but i have seen most of them. So im wondering what is everyones favourite car/bike shows. I want shows where they do stuff to the engines also. Can anybody give me a hand? :

Try Rides and Monster Garage. Rides is quite a good show, the first season is available on DVD. Monster Garage is about Jesse James' shop in California where he makes the most unreal things. I think season 1 through 4 is available on DVD.

The season of Top Gear just finished is a cracker. Every episode is a winner! Also check out 5th Gear, a bit more consumer focussed but still a good view.
Not exactly car related but Junkyard Wars is also great entertainment for those with a bit more of an interest in fabrication / "making stuff".

the BEST Car related TV show is OVERHAULIN'
its on the Discovery channel on sundays at 12.30. its similar to pimp my ride but its more like backyard blits kinda show where they surpise the owner they generally do old cars (ive seen a elcomino and an old camaro) but the best part is the people who do the cars up - the lead designer is CHIP FOOSE!!!! they completely re-do the car, paint wheels, engine, driveline, suspension EVERYTHING in a week or 2 check this site out http://www.overhaulin.com/ heres one of the cars they did:

I didn't realise quite that many Australians downloaded Top Gear, being it British and all. The season that did finish is definately a winner though like sparkle said.

I also enjoy Orange County Choppers.
You dont see too much engine work though (they generally outsource the engines and just drop them in once the bike is prepped) - however you do see some great fabrication techniques and machinery, paint process, chroming, powder coating, billet wheel machining - a fair chunk of stuff. Some episodes are crap - they hardly do anything worth watching. Others episodes there is heaps of mechanical stuff going on. Its a Discovery Channel show too. Thurs nights I think. You guys have got me interested in this Overhaulin..... |

Top Gear would have to be the best car show I've seen, however Jeremy Clarkson making big sweeping statements and his sometimes arrogant nature can be a bit annoying at times.

how about "Classic Car Resteration" on the "how to" channel its interesting most of the time but can also be boring!
what was that british show from discovery channel that gave three teams $1000 to go and buy a sh#tbox and parts to mod it than they had to race each other? that was a cool show |

that 1 was pritty good but i can't remember the name either. A car is reborn was good, some guy rebuilds a E-type over about 12 episodes. I think there is another 1 before that called A race car is born. |

Top gear is without a doubt my favorite. They just had Mark webber on recently.
It may not be super-informative, but its bloody good fun to watch! (hence The James May quote). I love the races that they do (car vs plane, car vs train, car vs boat.) they show some awesome cars too! (i'm trying to buy a "I am the Stig" shirt at the moment!)

A new show just started on Foxtel/Austar that may tickle your fancy.
It's called Automaniac, hosted by Bill Goldberg. It's pretty much just like a car review show.

The build a car for an actor who had enough money to build 10 of these cars without dinting his account. That is wrong, I like Pimp My Ride, they take cars that need work from people who can't afford to.

I used to watch the Car Show on WIN. I reckon Pimp my Ride is pretty awesome but doesnt serve much practicality.
I mean there was one episode where some guy had ute with a ping pong table and also had a place to sit in the tray and play XBOX or some crap like that. Who the f**k is gonna sit in the back of a ute and play games? |
