Default What Polish To Use?

Guys,
my AU XR8 sedan is looking a little dull and hasnt had a polish in over 2 years, and although is cleaned regularly, still gets weather beaten.
Its black, what polish would you guys use or can recommend to me ?
A friend swears by Turtle Wax, but like some other input.

I use the turtle wax colour coded stuff followed by meguiars gold class wax. No complaints (apart from not having time to do it in ages)

i am so paranoid about my paint and i only use Meguairs.

Next genaration wash followed by next generation tech wax!!! Easiest stuff to use, little hassle and the best by far.

I suppose I should also mention that once the stuff I have runs out I'll be going to THEMBOYS, I have heard nothing but rave reviews for all their gear so I'm going to try it out.

Which polish to use? I'd agree with most of the responses - Meguiar's

I tried the colour cure Turtle Wax stuff, but Blueprint is VERY hard to match.
I ended up using it just where there were scrapes on the bottom of the front bumper, but other than that, I too use the Meguiar's products.

Doc, I'm thinking of ordering some Mequires before Wagga. Can I just order it from AWC and have Adam bring it with him to Wagga. Of course I'll need to check with Adam to see if he is ok with that.

How do we order. Do it via email, pay you guys or AWC?

Thanks

Hi Bucknaked, It would be best to order through AWC and to suport thier business / sponsership of the forum (By supporting AWC your also supporting Themboys Auto a double whammy if you like ), check with Adam regarding if he has the stock on hand and if needs be we can ship some more up that way, but sooner would better than later to check with Adam regarding stock to allow shipping times to be met if needed.

Ordering is quite simple, you can order via the AWC site or give them a call, or for others they can order via our site, there are several payment options available to suit most peoples needs so i dont see any problems there.

NXT Gen car wash (anti static keeps the dust and grit off for a longer period of time).

Clay Bar (doesn't matter which brand as they all sourced from the one manufacturer anyhow).

Paint Cleaner

Scratch-X to get any remaining light swirls/scratches out of the paintwork.

One or two coats of NXT Gen Tech Wax, usually a second to cover the spots you might have missed first go. Anymore than two is just stripping off your previous layer as you add another coat. It's also got synthetic polymers in it, so it also bonds to protect the paint (much like a sealant would do).

Gold Class is good, but it's chalky and more difficult to remove than the Tech Wax. It also requires a sealant as well for optimum protection and duration.

NXT Gen Speed Detailer for after wash detailing so thus maintaining the wax over a longer period of time.

I'm looking to make an order and there's 2 types of tyre shine. I wonder if there is really that much difference between them. Looks to me like Meguirs are separating their product lines with original meguires products and now a new line of tech wax products. So many choice's.

Anyway, what is the difference?

My plan is to use up all the existing waxes and polishes before upgrading to only Tech Wax stuff. I have lots of cleaning stuff now. As I use it, i'll get the tech wax gear. Does this sound like a good idea. i imagine that all the meguires products are as good as the next. Being mequires, i guess it can't do any harm?

Hey guys, I've been using Meguiars product for a while now and unhappy with 2 of there product.

First is Meguiars Scratch X. I can't seem to clear up the swirl mark on my black car. Is there anything that will work and been tried and tested.

Secondly is Meguiar hot tyre shine. There seems to be no shine or gloosy wet look at all.

Hi MAFIATL, Have you tried a swirl remover ? if not you could try that, also with the sratchx how many times have you applied it, as i had a few marks on the wifes car that took several applications to remove the marks.

with the hot shine are you using the pump pack or spray ?, i personally use the pump version and am 100% happy with the outcome, not being funny but are the tryes clean i.e have you scrubbed them clean before applying this ?

there are several other tyre gloss products for you tryes if this is still not doing the job. edurance tyre gel, there are 2 a medium and high shine version.

the meguires tyre shine range is CRAP!!!! They have the best PAINT product range but their tyre shines lack! I've used everything on the market and nothing comes close to WETLOOK from crc. Lasts the longest and shines the most. And for the price you cant go wrong.

mafiatl dont get too hung up on a few light swirls on black paint, if u cant get out marks after going over them a few times with Scratch X i wouldnt bother, instead try Megs Swirl Mark Remover (not actually a remover but a filler), followed by a good sealant and then a decent wax like NXT or Turtle Platinum applied once a month. oh make sure u get yourself a few microfibre cloths :Up_to_som

There's are so many product's in the Mequair's range, What do you reconmend Doc for a complete clean to wax step by step for a Galaxy blue colour, so far my ragime is wash with the Mequair's wash, then their paint cleaner, then their deep crystal polish, then their gold class wax, this is what I use in this order, I have the scratch X but I'm yet to try it and I'd also like to use their clay bar, what order would you suggest???.

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned Autoglym Super Resin Polish yet. It's quality stuff, although I haven't used Meguiars so I can't compare them.

Maybe not as good as they used to be but still have a few products I really like
Bodyshop 07b plastic and rubber cleaner-protectant
Vinyl & rubber care spray
Extra gloss protection (good paint sealant)
Bodyshop 01B polish

have to remember that silicone and petroleum distillates commonly used by many industrial brands and shine in a can products will dry out the tyres

The best I reckon are super polymer tire gels but I'm sure that meguiars would not use conventional ingredients in their tyre spray cans
