Mate, you must be so proud. Watching your kids grow up into this ever more crazy world can be scary sometimes. You just have to equip them with the skills and attitudes to be succesful and come out at the other end in one piece.

l can imagine how pleased you must be feeling for your son right now :

He may have been better off waiting and being picked up by someone else, but congrats anyway.

Yeah, pity it wasn't the Hawks John, but could have been worse places than Collingwood. He gets to stay in Melbourne and is 20 minutes from training. We have all been on a high all day, he got lunch with the coach and recruiting staff and a personal call from Eddie Mcguire himself. It was a complete shock for all of us, we didn't expect him to get selected so early. Thanks all for your comments and well wishes.

Sounds like a top pick too! (Just the type my bullies could do with)

Jeeez he's got a hard life. I would have issues picking between keeping my career on track or giving Eddie one in the mouth.

Seriously though, congrats!

Hi Mark, he had been spoken to by Melbourne, Port Adelaide & Collingwood, so we didn't know whether he would get picked at all let alone a Melbourne club. We honestly thought he would spend another year at TAC cup level and maybe, just maybe an outside wild card at pick 60-70, but to be picked 37 was completely out of the blue and above all expectations. My head's still spinning, I have had about 2 hours sleep and I still can't get over it, my baby boy's an AFL player! Woohoo.
BTW, He has always been a mad Hawk supporter like me, but should I say it, I might have to become a member of the Pies now.
