Well its happening again.
Its been 8 years since U2 were in australia on their Pop tour, and the biggest band in the world is back! details Yeah Baby!! Is anyone else looking at going? The Sydney concert is being held at Telstra Stadium. Has anyone been to a concert at a stadium like this? I'm tossing up whether to get Standing GA tickets (and wait in lines, standing all day, and possible be stuck up the back somewhere), or get seating tickets, the price doesnt bother me (this is a once in a lifetime thing really), but i dont want to find myself saying " damn, I wish I got GA tickets". Obviously the best tickets are the ones on the side (see map on the ticketek website), but im just wondering whether they would still suck and be too far away. GA tickets wouldnt bother me personally, cause im big and tall and can push my way to the front, but i'll have the mrs with me which I wouldnt want to get crushed (not that I expect people would behave like that at this concert). So, long story short, GA tickets, or seating?

Saw U2 in 89 at the Entertainment Centre seated
then again in 1993 at aussie stadium GA then in 98 at Bris vegas seated this time bris vegas again and seated Depends on how much time you wanna waste GA stand around all day and hope you can get to the front at large concerts these days they section the crowds off to stop another BDO/limp bizkit problem. SEATED you walk in 10 mins before they start sit down and enjoy the show Your choice these days i am not that keen anymore and my back is ed so i always go seated just don't waste my time anymore |

Yeah, I do like the sound of sitting down and being comfortable, I just don't want to miss out because the seats are so far away.....

I'm refusing to go. I did go the the Popmart Tour at Aussie Stadium (pre. the SFS), but then they lied to Australians upon the release of their next album "All that you can't leave behind". They said they'd tour just so we'd all rush out and buy the album, but once the album had sold to it's capacity, they then announced they wouldn't be touring due to the poor state of the Aussie Dollar. I don't reckon they ever intended to tour, they just lied so we'd all buy the album. Stuff em I say - I'm not giving them any more of my money.

I'm going to the Sydney show. Thinking the same too. Looking at the layout, GA ticket could get you nice and close, but you would have to be there fairly early and standing up for hours. Seating seems a good option, but your either the lenght of a footy field away or to the side.
Seems how they have sold out every show so far, i'm getting tickets first thing monday coz they will probably sell out fairly quick. Will be interesting to see if they put any more shows on due to demand.

Outdoor concerts suck!! Stand the whole time, too crowded, you are so far away that you just watch the big screens, sound isn't as good, lighting isn't as good, and the drugs stink the whole place out. If U2 were indoors ,it would be brilliant..outdoors, no interest.

I am going to go and see them, apparently 7 containers and 3 jumbos worth of gear. Have not yet seen them, but they are said to put a lot of money into their tours and make little from them. As long as they stay out of the local political arena this time........... :

Saw them at the MCG on their ZooTV tour, it was an awesome stageshow.
Had ground tickets couldn't see a thing, moved up the front though during the gig, but bouncers were pushing us back. In the end they gave up. |

Did anyone end up getting tickets?
Sold out (sydney) within the hour I missed out :( The stupid Ticketek 15 minute timeout killed me, I managed to get on the site 10 minutes to 9 (after an hour of refreshing), selected the number of tickets I wanted, the type (all at like 9:01) and was waiting for the next page to load to when my time ran out. F%%$# (&^ \:T Man am I crankey!!!!!!!!!!

So you missed out?
Mother has been trying to get in since about 6:30 so she can get tickets for the Brisbane show. The last one they went to was the ZooTV one in Melbourne yonks ago. EDIT - Hmmm, seems to be none on sale for Brisbane yet... that's weird.

Yeah... ebay has been going spastic with something like 235 tickets for U2 all over australia half an hour ago.
Thankfully, between myself and Kye, we managed to secure 2 tickets for Brisbane after calling and checking the net all morning. Apparently Melbourne sold out in 2hrs or so.

Here's hoping for Melbourne II after I missed out on tickets yesterday.
My plan was to go for GA (standing) tickets and see if we can get in the circle. (I'm planning to go with my two nieces and I've heard rumours that they like to have a number of younger fans in the area, not just oldies like me! _2: ) Now keeping an ear to the ground regarding that second gig... I'm still yet to decide if my Viva deserves an 'Achtung Baby' Trabrant paint job...

No other shows then the second ones in Sydney, Melbourne and NZ. Thats it.
Oh, and as far as the inner circle stage area, not sure about here, but in the US they randomly print "Vertigo Vertigo Vertigo" on some GA tickets, if you've got that, your allowed in.
