What do you guys think is the best sounding 'stock' car out there, i mean no mods whatsoever that affect the engine or exhaust in anyway, and no v8s or higher.
My choice is the new vectra CDXI with the dual exhausts, it sounds pretty damn good. and no i couldnt be bothered to make this a poll

XR5 turbo, from the videos I've heard. Second to that a WRX, then the Boss.

If it was a V8 then it would be an OLD 5.0Litre Holden, like a VS!

I know you said no V8's, but my vote would be the Ferrari 355, or any modern (say 993 onwards) Porsche 911's/Boxters.

Lotus Espirit S4 is the best 4cyl I've ever heard stock. I know some people will shoot me for this but the best the best factory 6cyl I've ever heard is the GTR XU1. My mate in Bris-Vegas had an genuine original. Was worth a mint, could be a bastard to keep in tune but was a rocket and sounded sweet either idleing or boring up it.

No V8's or higher? Pretty dumb rule...
Hard to pick the best sounding 6 or 4cyl car. F6 Typhoon sounds pretty awesome, as I found out the other day. I've heard plenty of E46 M3's, and IMO they sound like crap. Hmm.... Gonna have to go with any late model Porsche... Boxster, Boxster S, Cayman S, 911 Carrera, 911 Carrera S.... any of them, they all sound great. But if we're talking bigger engines... stock car... Ferrari F355, Ferrari F360, Bugatti EB 16/4 Veyron, Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG..... oooh yeah. BA GT and XR8 didn't sound all that bad stock either.

No V8's said Valknutr....
My vote goes to the Volkswagen Golf R32, I don't know if its been mentioned but it is one helluva great sounding engine. Follow that by an M3 CSL at full noise. Anyone ever heard the sound that came out of the V6 DeLoreans. They were pretty cool sounding too (and not the sound from the B2F DMC becasue that was dubbed with a Chev V8 for the film). Skyline engines sound extremely good even though I hate to admit it and also do Rexes at full noise. At normal driving, they just annoy me. Beleive it or not, I also like the sound of my Fiesta. lol Dont flame me please hehehe. I totally agree too about porsches, they have the most beautiful and distinctive sound no matter what they are. My uncle has a Boxter S and that thing sounds unbelievable. Awesome car. We also have a Rancher Ride on Lawnmower. Jeez, you can hear that baby hitting its governor all the way from the bottom of our property. Automotive wet dream Material. |
